As many have stated below, most protestant, southern Baptists, ect… pick apart Catholic faith from there pulpit. That is the source of hatred in Protestants toward the Catholic faith, as I see it.
Or in my words, they are filling up there pews, and there collections with fallen away, poorly catechized Catholics, who never took the time to understand Catholicism.
Example: So many marriages take place without Catholic preparation classes, not having been consecrated in a Catholic church. Hence , a Vegas Wedding …
Then it is only a state recognized marriage for 2, and not 3 as a consecrated Catholic marriage.
Yes Catholics are poorly catechized and that falls to the parents. I have learned through Legion of Mary home visits that most parents stop Catholic education after confirmation and that is usually 12 years old. Public educated Catholics usually fall away in highest numbers, in the Catholic Church.
I have read that divorce is much higher in non-Catholic marriages.
But when a divorced Catholic falls back in love, then talks to their prient about getting re-married, they are extremely disappointed when he tells them they must receive an annulment before they can receive any sacraments. They then are fertile soil for the entry into non-Catholic churchs because that protestant minister assures them that there is no need for them to receive a annulment from their Catholic church. They will tell them the Catholic Church is mid-evil and they don’t have to live with their new spouses as brother and sisters, until they receive their annulments. They did not get remarried to live as brother and sister and they easily will walk away from their Catholic heritage, to live as they wish. The Catholic Church does not make the rules on remarriage, our Church fathers and scripture does. But that is another subject.
The ministers must keep them coming back by continuing to pick apart the Catholic faith on other differences.
There are many more examples to pick but to me, above is the most obvious.
So much for Ecumenism, but you never hear a Catholic priest in the homily, degrade or cast dispersions on non-Catholic Christians, Muslims or Buddhists… Our faith grows from reverts and non-Catholic who seek the truth about the faith.
