Do the Hooters restaurant chains objectify women?

I’m sure I remember reading somewhere that clothes shed more bacteria than skin although probably not a good enough reason for this

This is Bill Elliott’s son Chase who is currently racing in NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series.

They look like girl scouts compared to one of the local places across the street from the university. 😃

I wouldn’t stress it too much. These places are, in my mind, more sad than anything. It’s a place for lonely middle aged guys who don’t realize that the girls are only flirting with them for tips.

It’s obviously not nearly as bad as a strip club or brothel, though. It’s suggestive but not overtly sexual. Of all the things to really bother you, this should be pretty low on the totem pole.

Meh. I’ve not saying it gives me sleepless nights. Only this is a place I won’t go, and here’s why.

To be fair didn’t everyone wear mini skirts in the 60s

It absolutely does. The objectification is right there in the name! I never eat there for that reason, plus I hate their food.

No. I’ts chicken wings and beer.

Honestly, this place caters to men who like to oogle and flirt with pretty girls. The food is not why they go there.

Why does it matter if you’re not going?

Soon, places like this will go out of business anyway, as people are more and more attuned to inappropriateness. When things get really rabid, there’s always a moral backlash. (outrage)

It will come.
I think they will go through a downturn, but will rebound. Men will continue to oogle and I think the #metoo movement is more about equality than morals.

True. The #metoo movement is great in so far as it goes. But it won’t be completely fixed until we treat people with human dignity.

I think it would help if we got rid of abortion. 😎

The problem with this argument is that it will never convince a pro-life proponent. Ever.

Pro-life folks believe the “fetus” is a human person. So it doesn’t matter where it is.

That argument basically assumes (if you assume the “fetus” is a person) that humanity depends on location.

Well… the women are also objectifying themselves by freely consensenting to put their bodies on display in an intentional and not “accidental” way.

Does consenting to your own murder make it any less illegal for the person who perpetrates it? (ignore assisted suicide :cry:)

Yes, of course the chain objectifies women. Where do you think the name comes from? Hooters is a slang term for breasts - look it up in Webster’s dictionary.

It’s been many years since I’ve been in a Hooters. I think I’ve been in a Hooters twice. It was neither as scandalous as its name implies, nor was the food any better or worse than anywhere else. Overall, a big 😐

And this is immoral/scandalous because . . . .?
They are wearing cheerleader uniforms, aren’t they?

I’d say that probably all restaurants and bars that hire cute staff are in some mild fashion using the male libido to attract customers. It’s a common fact of the service business and not really a scandal.

What reason would they go there when its whole point is to showcase scantily clad women?
Um, is the food any good?
I hear a lot of people bought Playboy Magazine for the articles. 😂
