Do traditional Catholic girls kiss before marriage?

Lol, never “ask permission” to kiss a girl like a little boy asking for a cookie before dinner from mommy, that’s a joke.
I’d probably be pretty upset if someone kissed me without warning… But that’s me. 🤷

I think asking is sweet and respectful, as BEL said. 🙂

As far as the OP’s question- sure, I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t. But she could be like me and not really want to touch people she doesn’t know very well. You never know, and asking could save you some trouble. 🤷

Easy Cekada I’m saying if a girl kisses another guy before marriage it’s not as beautiful as if we are the only two people to be with one another in an intimate setting. It only makes sense. We can give each other our all and not think about others in our past when we are together we also avoid the heartbreak that comes when giving yourself to another in intimate ways in relationships and save it all for when we are finally together.
I actually lol’ed. I have been called worse. I figured that’s what you meant. Thanks for clarifying though.

I don’t see anything wrong with a chaste kiss on the cheek on a date. I’m not sure I’d be comfortable with it though, but I’m sure it would depend on the person and how well I knew him beforehand. Asking would be majorly impressive to me though- “May I kiss you goodnight?” seems like a good way of inquiring as to whether she really wants it. I get the feeling that a guy generally wouldn’t care about being kissed without asking first, but I could be wrong.

I can totally see myself going, “Oh. Ummm, I think I need to think about that for a little bit.” 🤷 :o

Don’t be shy about it, women don’t like that. If you try to kiss her and she says no, I seriously doubt she will be offended.
As much as I don’t like shy men, the truth is, some women do. Doesn’t the song say ‘every girls is crazy about a shy best man?’

That was kind of harsh and your example wasn’t how I felt about it but I prefer not to be asked. But I would never say “never ask”. Only one guy ever asked if he could kiss me and seconds before he did is was thinking “just do it already.” That he asked made me doubt he could read my signals which was not a good sign to me.

Best of luck to all the single guys who now know some women prefer to be asked and some that don’t.:confused:

Haha, well as a shy guy myself, I felt it was OK to say that, lol. Of course, if I wasn’t a shy guy, I wouldn’t have had to learn the above mentioned multistep process. 😊 This post brought back a rather awkward memory from about 10 years ago. 😃

It’s funny that the OP is asking only about girls. If they kiss, who else would they be kissing but the boys!
(or are the rules on kissing different for each gender?)

I wouldn’t think many would be exactly “heartbroken” if their spouse had kissed someone in the past. Maybe others here can weigh in on that?

.
I try to emulate Christ in all ways of my life I don’t think Christ would go around making out with other girls if for some reason He was going to get married it seems so unchaste and like it would be hurtful to Himself, His mind, His soul, His heart (obviously I’m not talking about Christ anymore) and to others. I find a great gift in saving yourself for marriage giving everything you have to one other person and knowing their kissing skills or anything else will never be compared to one person or another but will be focused solely on the unity of your marriage and the increasing of your love together as a couple. When you’re married you are focused on your wife and this is a good thing, so when you are unmarried everything you do should be for God, because in turn this will be the best thing for your own life, happiness, soul, etc. How kissing around puts your focus on God and not different men or women you are kissing because the act puts all the focus on your wife/husband during marriage and that single person only is beyond me?

If not emulating Christ I would try to emulate Faustina, Padre Pio, Don Bosco all the great saints of present and past centuries and say if their vocation was different how would they live it out and I see sweetness and great holiness in acting like a child and not wanting to be intimate with another but getting to know them until you are married when you can act on fleshly desires in the ways God made them for us instead of confusing yourself and who you are going to marry by kissing people you won’t and maybe marrying them based on the feelings of lust you got from those moments instead of the person which God wants you to be with which needless to say is the perfect person for you.

I’m a Catholic woman that has never seen a problem with kissing. Of course, a lot of what is and isn’t appropriate affection is kind of a cultural thing, too. It really depends on the girl. There is no “official rule” or anything on kissing like there is on sex before marriage.

In terms of asking before kissing, I think if you feel you have to ask then you probably shouldn’t. In my experience, it’s one of those “you’ll know it when you see it,” situations. Guys that I’ve known who either asked, or said they planned to ask weren’t in the right “place” to kiss the girl.

This is disgusting the only reason girls are defending this is so they don’t feel guilty for their own mortal sins of making out with multiple guys/girls before their nuptials with their husband who deserved so much more than what they gave to him. “Therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” -Matthew 3:10

Yeah and guys shouldn’t kiss before marriage either don’t think you’re getting me by throwing that out there of course a woman would say that

Let’s see how many people jump on my harsh tone over their own sins as they defend kissing people intimately outside of marriage and we wonder why we live in a pagan society and I’m a liberal

May I ask what experience of dating have you had? Are you “available” for dating at the current time? (that is not a proposition! :))

Could you share some of your own dating experience? Do you find your position on kissing is well accepted, or has it caused surprise with any girlfriend? I’m assuming you are single and of dating age.

The OP didn’t say anything about kissing people “intimately” or “making out”. He said “kiss”. That could mean anything. That could just mean a kiss on the cheek or something. 🤷

I’ve never kissed anyone, but I certainly don’t think that doing so would be a mortal sin.

Insane. Not even close to what the Church teaches.

“Making out” is not even close to a mortal sin unless it goes waaaaaay past kissing.

At most, it could be a near occasion of sin, if it made the couple tempted to do more.

God Bless

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Matthew 5:27-28

Would anyone else like to still say this is not a sin?
