Do Traditional Catholics Accept Theistic Evolution?

I have no problem with evolution being the mechanism God used to create the physical universe and all that is in it.

Was just wondering if this is typical Trad catholic belief.
I read articles of at least two “Trad” catholics who accept evolution (as opposed to the philosophy of evolution"ism"). Both are scientists, btw, and that seems to make the difference.

On the other hand, there are non-Trad catholics who believe in some sort of creationism.

The Bible is not a scientific textbook; it is document detailing man’s relationship with God.

Mankind is made in the image of God in that we possess an eternal soul. This is a theological truth and will never be confirmed by science, anymore than science can “prove” the cause of the creation of the universe.

Evolution by natural selection is simply the biological mechanism that works in nature. It is only when natural selection is used as a philosophy to explain the creation of life that it conflicts with theological truth.

It does not need to be an “either, or” situation.

Is the FSSP officially against evolution? I ask because not only have a heard one of their priest denounce it but I also read an article against it in their newsletter.

The Fraternity also seems to hold a literal 6,000 year old “young creation” view of history. Is this something that’s taught to these priest in their seminaries? If so, they should cut it out. Such superstitious views, if propagated too frequently, are going to give the Latin Mass movement a bad name and cause us to become laughing stocks throughout the civilized world (just like the fundies).

Also, what is the SSPX view of evolution/creationism?
