Do we have to fast before recieving the sacrament of reconciliation?

Research the purpose of the Eucharistic fast, and then you will see why we don’t.

No, you do not have to fast before Confession.

The only Sacrament that fasting is a part of is the Eucharist, which current Roman Canon Law stipulates as being a minimum of 1 hour fast prior to reception of Communion (excluding water and medicine, and the fast is dispensed with if you’re very medically frail and need to eat).

Fasting, although not strictly required before any act of faith, is spiritually beneficial. I would imagine that contemplatives, among others recommend it. It is a form of penance and thus has spiritual benefit.
