Do we lose our loved ones in heaven?

…all I can say is as I’ve said before–Heaven is not a place where our whims are made come true; who even knows if one will actually end up in Heaven–however, insisting in life as usual is quite the same issue that Christians were having when St. Paul warned them that he would have to give them milk instead of solid nourishment since they were not mature.

I don’t know what your problem is; however, you’re quite bitter. I don’t appreciate you’re suggestion of choosing damnation either. That’s rude.

1 Corinthians 2:9

But, as it is written: That eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man, what things God hath prepared for them that love him.

Isaiah 25:6

On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine-- the best of meats and the finest of wines.
 
I think that you and I will not come to an accord.

You seem to equate the Heavenly experience with “more of the good life” that we have here.

What you are espousing (eat, drink, and be merry) is not what God has Revealed through Scriptures. I am attempting to help you understand that it is not business as usual (we don’t take anything with us and nothing unclean will enter the Holy City).

The only other option to Heaven is having it man’s way. Yet, man’s way does not lead to Salvation.

…and… rather than bitter, I am a realist… if we are to convert our heart and mind to the Lord, we cannot keep living the old life; our old self (the wanting of the flesh) must be put away:
17So I tell you this, and insist on it in the LORD, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. 20That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. I think that is what Heaven is: that is, we will not be so small, but will share fully in God’s gift of seeing truly and loving dearly as a result. We won’t lose our families, except in the sense of letting go of our small view of them. In place of that, we will love them with the fullness God intends. After all, sometimes the self-denial of Lent teaches us that we do not really love something until we let go of selfish and small reasons for wanting it.

“Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.” Mark 10:29-30

With God, the more we are emptied, the more we can be filled. His Mother shows the way: She let go of Him and allowed herself to be pierced by the sword of sorrow, yes, but by her obedience both she and the world have what He came to do. She is in no way deprived by what she did; it was the only way to reach love in its fullness, which is all she gave up and infinitely more. She shows us how to follow that way.
