Reform isn’t as easy as one-two-three, Luther simply left the Church because it was too difficult for him to get his way within the Church, even though there have been people who sucessfully reformed the Church with difficultly as well.

would Luther have left the Church if The Church indeed changed in benefitting Luther even if Indulgences were still being sold?. I kinda doubt it, I know Luther misunderstand what indulgences actually were and used this to promote his own doctrine.
That is totally false!! I have heard Catholics here sya that indulgences in the manner in which they were being used in Luther’s day were not church doctrine. Which one is it??

So what you are saying is that Luther’s actions had no spiritual value to them and that his intentions were all negative and the Catholic church needed absolutely nothing that Luther said it needed.
What the Church needed, it got with the Council of Trent.

Deo Gratias.

I truly love you all as well and I pray everyday that those that are deceived will be able to walk with Christ someday. There’s nothing like it!!

I do believe that. De Fide Definita.

You seriously need what Christ wants in your life, not decisions made by a bunch of sin prone men. No offense, we are all sin prone (Hey, that’s supported by Scripture, what a concept!)

I admire all the televangelists I watch on TV. They keep telling us about God speaking to them, ‘giving them anointings’, ‘testimonies’ ‘telling them about blessings’, 'whispering to them about certain people in the TV audience being healed. Watching Benny Hinn curing the multitudes - it’s really amazing. All too unbelievable.

God doesn’t speak to me in that way, nor do I speak in tongues myself. I’m just an ordinary Joe, trying to make my way in life, trying to imitate Jesus, loving my neighbor dispite my iracible nature. Grace and justification (santification) are more important to me than they were to Luther, as if he discovered them for the first time hidden away in the passages of Romans and Galatians.

No so. Peace on us all.

Luther was a man who struggled with his spiritual life, that fact that he felt unworthy of GOD , was not an uncomon at the time and still isn’t, even Protestants today talk about how they feel they are unworthy of GOD. The problem was not that he could not obtain forgivness, the problem was that he wasn’t able to forgive himself. I do not think the Catholic Church needed change as far as Doctrine goes, But Martin Luther felt that it did and again as I said if you were to reform the Church you will come across difficult times just as everyone else will, Luther simply couldn’t go through it so he gave up and broke the unity of christianity, which is something christianity today is suffering.

Sin prone men wrote Scripture and decided which books would be even considered Scripture.

How do you know what Christ wants in your life? You have to rely on the testimony of sin-prone men, at least to know that the Bible is truly what sin-prone Christians claim it to be.

Dear Brother, I know how Catholics majority dislike Marthin Luther. The pool in our forum says so, and I believe it is true all over the world. I admire Marthin Luther, definitely not for his personality. I admire him for the reason that he provided good (name removed by moderator)ut to our Catholic church (intentionally or not). Dont forget, that during the 1500’s no one dared to critize the Church. (In that period, there was no protestant anyway). I do not care whether Marthin Luther was as bad as you describe (that is his problem), because for me it is a different issue. It is normal that a “hero” of one party is a “terrorist” of other party/ies. May be the term of putting poison in the wine of the king is not 100% relevant in this case. Perhaps, Luther had slapped the poisonous wine of the king. Whether Luther did that for evil purposes or else, was his own business. But, the Church did learn positive things out of it. I myself prefer to read more books such as the teaching of St. Thomas Aquinas, rather than read about Marthin Luther. I need to beef up more on my side as a Catholic first, then learn about others (I am not saying that my preference is better tough). To me, Marthin Luther’s idea was wrong. I am glad that our Church could take positive things out of “negative things” that Marthin Luther threw. By the way, I am glad that I have the opportunity to discuss something about Catholicism to a serios thinker like you. I believe that you are a devoted Catholic. God bless you.

The Old Testament was written before Pentecost, so they excluded from your contention of (Church) sin prone men.

The New Testament was written by men - you want to call them 'sin - prone - that is up to you.

What you are missing is that what was written by these men was that they wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

They are not 'human books".

sin prone men under the Authority of the Catholic Church and with the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit
I bet Nella gets together with Bobzills often to see who can come up with the most offensive post.

In my view, it was suggested that perhaps you should read your History books and then make up your own mind. Luther was his own worst enemy and untill you come up with another logical conclusion it must be said as thus…

St Peters own confession, " Lord ! turn away from me, for i’m a sinfull man" So what else is news under the sun !!!
" Let him who is without sin cast the first stone "
