Ever since i have become a catechized and enthused Catholic, it seems the devil pays much more attention to me…:rolleyes:

i think he hates Catholics more than anyone …

do you agree??
And why wouldn’t he? When the devil sees the Holiness in the church Christ established, it really makes him mad. I just wish God didn’t give so much freedom to this Satan. He is destroying the world.

yes, i have thought about that… how could Satan possibly rebel against God once he was in Heaven??? almost caused me to lose my faith (somewhat)… hmmmm:hmmm:
I bet it’s because that’s just how strong his arrogance was. Otherwise if there was still good left in the devil, how could he be as he is today? I once read about this and got a really clear visual of Lucifer standing up in the high court of angels, or whichever, and saying, I have an idea! I am going to be like God, because look at how great I am! Everybody worship ME now! The of course here comes St. Michael and off the devil goes, falling from heaven like lightning.

You never know, maybe he’s jealous of us that we can go to heaven. He’s s-t-u-c-k.

and the answer to the question (How do i know the devil is bothering me more now that i am a catechized CAtholic) is:

because nonCatholics on CAF are Always and forever picking on me…

(some Catholics too)
Maybe it is God’s way of keeping strong in your faith, and not the devil at all. 😉

very good post… 🙂

i think i am going to copy it if you don’t mind (minus your Handle)…

i esp like the 1st line, that he hates Christ. That’s something we Followers need to remember, that it is Christ he hates and so it is Christ we must (of course) use as a weapon… one reason i LOVE the rosary… So focused on Jesus Christ… His life in this world… The rosary is what made me a devout Christian… and then later i taught myself the catechism… and became a devout Catholic… revert.

if i told you all the ways in which Satan attacked me when i 1st prayed the rosary about 16 yrs ago… you probably wouldn’t even believe some of it… Even i have a hard time beliving sometimes… that such things can happen in the US of A… etc… VERY wild story…

but of course, he didn’t stop attacking 16 yrs ago by a long shot…

the strange thing is… well, i guess its not strange… God just uses him… so it seems to me… I try to remember the book of Job and how he lost everything but first the devil had to go before God to get permission to attack him. I wwould assume that is the case with us “Jobs” today… (?). since God is no respecter of persons…?
On your last point, I once remember arguing with my old protestant pastor about this. Being a bit exasperated at the time, I queried, “What the hell did God make the devil for?”

He thought for a moment, then just shrugged, and said “Oh, he’s got a job to do I suppose”.

In the end, I think it may boil down to something as boring and pedestrian as that. Satan’s got a job to do. But it’s motivated by absolute hatred. And He’s willing to do it.

Those who have read **The Screwtape Letters **by C. S. Lewis will recall that the juiciest morsels of the devil and his demons were people who were very close to God, and were snatched away, and became stauch enemies of God. People like Madonna, that girl who was a beautiful singer and went apostate, somebody Church, I think. Those aren’t the examples he used, of course.

But, the majority of us lose by apathy, and weakness of faith. Not so big a catch, but they’ll take it just the same.

If you haven’t read that book, you should. It is fascinating.

Is the Screwtape Letters Catholic doctrine? I thought “The Devil made me do it” was more of a Protestant invention.

Oh please. There isn’t one thing that goes against Catholic theology in any of Lewis’ works, and certainly not in that book. The man was 9/10 Catholic in any case. It’s a required reading in my son’s Catholic Homeschool curriculum… Believe me, if it passes their Catholic filters, it will pass anybody’s.

So, you feel like these problems in your life are caused directly by Satan? Your answer doesn’t prove that to me, but it tells me that you feel that to be the case.
as someone once said “All pain is the outcome of sin”… and we know where sin originates…

no, people are destroying it… they give power to the devil when they choose to serve him… and they choose to serve more often than not it seems… TV shows will prove this!!! I feel the presence of Satan every time i get a glimpse of some TV sit com…!! all it is is SEX!!!
disgusting…

sex is over-rated…

people love sex when they don’t have God…

people are made to wroship… and when they don’t worship God they will worship something else… these days it is sex and $$!!

maybe he’s jealous of us that we can go to heaven?? maybe?? i don’t think there is a maybe to it…

that’s some serious hatred… jealous hatred…

Jon
its both i’m sure…

god loves me so he gives me crosses… sounds odd but i know its true…

this world is so unreal that anything you go through is … uh… unreal and a cross…

but if you are not a christian you won’t see it that way because in that case anything goes and all that… but non-Christians (pagans) have “crosses” too… They jsut don’t call them crosses… in that case they are wasted sufferings… 😦

i don’t think he gets muvh satisfaction out of harasssing those who really love Christ… but maybe he does… when they get mad at God… which i kinda am guilty of… :o I never stay  for very long. but while i am angry it is something else…:(.

i’ve read it a couple times … he knew Tolkien and i think T was trying to convert him? wish i knew more about it…

The Screwtape Letters is the correspondence, through a series of letters, of a senior demon (Screwtape) to his nephew Wormwood, a junior demon. He is giving the junior demon advice on how to tempt his prey. It is an entertaining picture of the tricks used to turn us from the narrow path. It is very thought provoking. I think it is helpful to a young person in recognizing temptation.

Here is an excerpt from Chapter 2, pg. 5

"My dear Wormwood,
Code:
I note with grave displeasure that your patient has become a Christian. Do not indulge the hope that you will escape the usual penalties; indeed, in your better moments, I trust you would hardly even wish to do so. In the meantime we must make the best of the situation. There is no need to despair; hundreds of these adult converts have been reclaimed after a brief sojourn in the Enemy's camp and are now with us. All the *habits* of the patient, both mental and bodily, are still in our favour. "

 and Chapter 24, pg 129

" I have been in correspondence with Slumtrimpet who is in charge of your patient's young woman, and begin to see the chink in her armour. It is an unobtrusive little vice which she shares with nearly all women who have grown up in an intelligent circle united by a clearly defined belief;" and it consists in a quite untroubled assumption that the outsiders who do not share this belief are really too stupid and ridiculous."

i think one thing that proves the devil hates Catholics more than anyone is the fact that Catholics are SO reticent to share the faith with others… its almost like many of them, if not most, are ashamed to let anyone know they are Catholic.

i used to be kinda like that… but now i flaunt my Cathlicism. … probably not as much as i should.

How is the world ever going to be more Catholic (more Christian) if nobody TELLS anyone about it ???

When people cut you off in traffic… you wish that person was truly Catholic…

when people cheat you and lie to you… ditto…

when people murder their own children… ditto…

when “we” elect a socialist for president… ditto…

**it’s kind of our own blasted fault… **

Just thought I’d put my two cents in even though I haven’t read all the post. I don’t agree that Catholics are hated more than any one else. All of mankind was made in the image and likeness of God. The devil’s envy is against all mankind not just one religion.

i see you don’t call yourself Catholic. That explains things…

try being an outspoken Catholic… then come and talk to me…

Hi distracted, My Mom (God bless her Saintly Soul), was Catholic. Funny thing is she seemed always to get blessed even when she shared her faith with others. Go figure!🤷

Apparently, she wasn’t blessed when she shared the Faith with you, though. 😉 Don’t take that the wrong way. Bet she’s up there now, praying for you.
