Do you agree that the devil hates Catholics more than anyone else??

distracted: We must also remember that Satan knows the Bible very well:D He loves nothing more than luring Christians away from God. And i don’t believe he hates us as much as he hates God(jealous too!). And, I don’t believe that God ever hates us, or is punishing us(disciplining). This would go against who and what He is:LOVE!!!

Why would it be that “Mrs. Cain” (as you worded it) and your thinking that there were 14 Apostles keep you from entering the Catholic church? I just can’t believe it would be by these two insignificant things that keep you away. There is so much more to Jesus Christ and His church He established that you are not focusing on. Jesus chose 12 Apostles and Paul was not one of them. He came a little later as Christ’s Disciple. A true follower of Christ. A man who was so repentant, so sorry for his persecutions against Christ. He truly suffered and agonized over what he had done. Paul is a disciple of hope. that even though he was a murderer, he was called by Christ.
And Mrs. Cain, why can’t it be that perhaps Cain met someone, possibly Eve had more childre? Maybe Cain went with his sister? who knows? Only God knows.
OTCA you are only reading part of my posts read post #73. Mathias is number 13 of the Apostles he took Judas place, it was done by election. Paul considered himself also an Apostle( read Scripture )after his conversion.Paul even corrected Peter and they didn’t always get along. I like what you said about only God knows. That is the point I’m trying to make, so why does man think they have all the answers and make claims they only have the Truth. The rest read post #73.

The tree of knowledge is regarding good and evil, wisdom, spiritual knowledge.

The tree of life is Jesus Christ- God does not change

Try not to get too much into the semantics or symbols as much as the message you can interpret with wisdom . God does not change and has the same purpose , so what satan does cannot change Gods purpose or way.

In all the books where you see this reference Tree of Knowledge, Tree of Life, it does have the same meaning and or interpretaion.

Angels and Saints are replacements for the apostles.

I hope this helped you …

Hi Joann, I am confused. Gen 2:9 says there are not one, but two Trees in the center of the Garden, one being the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, the other the Tree of Life. Two trees, one they could eat from the other they can’t. One is mans wisdom, the other is God’s wisdom. Symbols are important in Scripture, they tell us what God is trying to convey to man. It is important to understand the significates of symbols. If the Tree of Knowledge is the Tree of Life, it does not explain why in Revelation 22:14-15 they wash their robes and have the right to the Tree of Life. Eziekiel says there are Trees of Life on each side of the River of Living water. God relates to man through symbols, the ancients saw this and we have lost it. The 12 constelations were for the 12 tribes of Israel, Josephus wrote of the signs in the heavens with they fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD. The curtain in the Temple was torn in two at the time of Christ death. Symbolic, but important. In Genesis 7:11 tells us the flood was not just rain, but the waters burst forth from the Abyss. In the Legends of Jerusalem the great Abyss is to believe to be under Jerusalem. I disagree that Angels and Saints are Apostle, the each have their own purpose. Angel and Saints may be messengers, but Apostles were his disciples in which he impowered to Baptize nations and spread the Good News.
Peace

Hi,

Tree of Life is Jesus Christ ( eternity, Paradise with him.)

Tree of Knowledge is Good and evil - Our free will to choose good or evil

Angels and Saints are our replacement for the Apostle and they all - spread the message of Gods Word. They are all equal or choosen for the same purpose which God sent them to do. The blessed Virgin Mary is considered a Saint or head of the Saints for example.

I should have used the word (metaphor ), example in Genisis they speak of the tree of knowlege which simply means good and evil spiritual wisdom etc.Garden of Eden, speaks to Eve by persuading her to eat the apple off of the Tree of Knowledge, which brings forth evil among the world. “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” Genesis(2:17). Eve knew that this would bring evil to the garden, but temptation over powered her and she was lured in by the satan to eat the fruit.

The Apocalypse of John refers to the tree of life in three places (Revelation 2:7; Revelation 22:2, Revelation 22:14). These are regarding the possibilities of life which await the redeemed soul.
“To him that overcometh, to him will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God” (Revelation 2:7). This means that all the possibilities of a complete and glorious life are open to the one that overcomes,

**
Revelation 22:14 John pronounces a blessing on those who wash their robes, who lead the clean and pure Christ life, for they thereby have the right and privilege of entering into the gates of the City and partaking of the tree of life.**

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14

This is eternal life with Jesus Christ in Paradise…

Hi Joann, you give some excellent answers here. I agree with you on the Tree of Life vs The Tree of knowledge. Can you please tell me your source for this imformation. I personally have not found it in the teachings of RCC, but it is possible I missed it.

Can you give me also teaching on Angels and Saints and where they have Baptized people and held communion?
Peace

But Judas was not the 13th Apostle because when he killed himself, there were still only 11 left. When they chose the extra one, it still made 12…Paul considered himself an Apostle which was the name they called themselves as true followers of Christ, but was clearly not the one Jesus chose as his Apostles before he called Paul. You need to understand that the Catholic church is not man made. Every other denomination is.

Hi and thank you ,as I am happy to help you with your questions, my source is the bible along with wisdom and Catholic Catechism which i will have to find references for you in there. also i credit the Saints which i have studied for many years now and have been given much wisdom and understanding through them from God… if you truly want to understand the RCC please read the Saints its a great start in understanding as the catehism can be overwhelming for a beginner… St Pio is a great start, since he is a modern day saint and one of the greatest saints to walk this earth. Read about him, you wont be dissapointed. well you should know John the baptist did baptize however we are also alllowed or permitted to do the same as Christians along with the Saints etc.

The angels and Saints where shall i begin ? As I have said they are given the same power as the apostles.

The communion of saints is the spiritual solidarity which binds together the faithful on earth, the souls in purgatory, and the saints in heaven in the organic unity of the same mystical body under Christ its head, and in a constant interchange of supernatural offices. The participants in that solidarity are called saints by reason of their destination and of their partaking of the fruits of the Redemption (1 Corinthians 1:2

Matthew 28:19, Jesus gives us the words to say when we baptize in His name.

For you racing59:

**Hope this is not to much for you, I dug a bit further for your understanding…

catholic catechism on angels and saints

329 St. Augustine says: "‘Angel’ is the name of their office, not of their nature. If you seek the name of their nature, it is ‘spirit’; if you seek the name of their office, it is ‘angel’: from what they are, ‘spirit’, from what they do, ‘angel.’"188 With their whole beings the angels are servants and messengers of God. Because they “always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven” they are the “mighty ones who do his word, hearkening to the voice of his word”.189

330 As purely spiritual creatures angels have intelligence and will: they are personal and immortal creatures, surpassing in perfection all visible creatures, as the splendor of their glory bears witness.190

Christ “with all his angels”

331 Christ is the center of the angelic world. They are his angels: "When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him. . "191 They belong to him because they were created through and for him: "for in him all things were created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities - all things were created through him and for him."192 They belong to him still more because he has made them messengers of his saving plan: "Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation?"193

332 Angels have been present since creation and throughout the history of salvation, announcing this salvation from afar or near and serving the accomplishment of the divine plan: they closed the earthly paradise; protected Lot; saved Hagar and her child; stayed Abraham’s hand; communicated the law by their ministry; led the People of God; announced births and callings; and assisted the prophets, just to cite a few examples.194 Finally, the angel Gabriel announced the birth of the Precursor and that of Jesus himself.195

350 Angels are spiritual creatures who glorify God without ceasing and who serve his saving plans for other creatures: “The angels work together for the benefit of us all” (St. Thomas Aquinas, STh I, 114, 3, ad 3).

351 The angels surround Christ their Lord. They serve him especially in the accomplishment of his saving mission to men.
956 The intercession of the saints. "Being more closely united to Christ, those who dwell in heaven fix the whole Church more firmly in holiness. . . . They do not cease to intercede with the Father for us, as they proffer the merits which they acquired on earth through the one mediator between God and men, Christ Jesus . . . . So by their fraternal concern is our weakness greatly helped."495

We worship Christ as God’s Son; we love the martyrs as the Lord’s disciples and imitators, and rightly so because of their matchless devotion towards their king and master. May we also be their companions and fellow disciples!499**

The Spirit of Christ is always in you! YOU are a temple of the living God - do not defile yourself. Remember that always and you’d be able to supress temptations and worldly or natural tendencies or inclinations…
i don’t defile myself… i want someone else to defile me… 😃

sick joke… but … I’ve been celibate for 50 yrs… so i am excused…

have you been… uh… deceived in anything recently? I ask because i feel i am being deceived by the devil right now about somethig… Long story … he seems to be making something not so good look good… and maybe it is beyond not so good… but i … don’t want to see that??? i just can’t… totally let go of this thing that occupies my mind… and is interfering with productivity… because there is so much good involved… i can’t see the bad… but again… i may be being deceived…

Been tryin’ to figure out exactly what the title of this thread really means! Do catholics really believe that satan hates THEM more than the rest of us Christans? Look at it this way; If you are unsaved, you are already in his camp, so why would he cae about you? It is when you are preparing to do, or are in the middle of doing something, anything for the Lord, that Satan loves to stalk you, tempt you, and persuade you to turn away from God! I don’t think he hates one religion more than the others; he hates US all(Christians, that is). Those Navy Cadets must be flying high after Saturday’s win(second consecutive time) in Notre Dame’s own crib!! Whoo, Hoo!👍

I TIM 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

How many people who have been saved actually live Holy lives? How many actually act like true Bible Christians? The truth is many of these people who are so called OSAS believers, return to their sins. They believe that if a man commits adultery on his wife and dies in that sin he will go to heaven after all he is saved.

If you turn away from serving God and go back to living a life of sin! He will die in that sin and God will not remember anything he has done for Him. This OSAS false doctrine is sad because it does nothing but give the people a false since of security in their minds.

**REVELATION 2:5

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

What fallen!” But the false doctrine of once saved always saved tells people that once they are saved they can never fall! But this is not what the Bible says**

Nice, very nice:D But let us remember this fact: ALL Christians are vulnerable to backsliding and being tempted! Jesus was and is the ONLY “human” who kept all Ten Commandments! No one mentioned OSAS, but it is an issue that is very contentious, and there are no definintive answers from either side. Are you a true Bible Christian? Have you lived a holy life? I haven’t, but thanks to the grace of God, I can repent, confess my sins, and turn back to Him for forgiveness! Listen, nobody, not you, not me, not your pope, or even the early church fathers have, or can live a truly holy life, as long as we have a sin nature in us, so accept the fact that no matter how often you read your Bible, pray, or go to mass, you will fall away;) Some fall farther than others, and some may have questionable salvation in the first place. My wife asked me,“If I had died when I was away from God, would I have gone to Heaven?” I said,“I don’t know, nobody does; but why do you believe that God saved you when you were in darkness, why didn’t He let you die?”👍

[What fallen!” But the false doctrine of once saved always saved tells people that once they are saved they can never fall! But this is not what the Bible says****]

This may be too narrow an explanation of the belief in OSAS! It may be safer to say, that some people who believe in OSAS, believe that because of grace and mercy, they have hope of reconciliation with God through repentance and forgiveness! For someome, anyone to believe that being saved is a license to sin is folly:eek: But I like the parable of the prodigal son; because I think that many of us can relate1 God does His best work in us when we are broken and hurting!

.

Ever since i have become a catechized and enthused Catholic, it seems the devil pays much more attention to me…:rolleyes:

i think he hates Catholics more than anyone …

do you agree??
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

I think you are correct. Other faiths have already removed Christ in the “live” Eucharist from their churches, so in effect, the devil has already won them over. The Catholic Catechism, however, states the Eucharist is the “sum and substance” of the Faith. Nothing perturbs the devil as much as Jesus and here are the Catholics offering Him up every single day at Mass. I posted a Miraculous Medal above. You can wear it around your neck, put it in your pocket, etc. for protection. [We bury them on our children’s college campus just by slightly pushing them into the ground. We also will put them on the lawns of those who have marriage problems or are sick in other ways. We’ve put them *many places.] Other things that irk the devil and will keep you safe (after receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation as needed, and attending Sunday Mass), is visiting a Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, DAILY Mass, frequent recitation of the Most Holy Rosary, and the tried and trues of Holy Water (in your home too!) and touching, looking at, or talking to the beautiful statues that adorn most Catholic churches. 🙂

While I am a Catholic, it seems to me that some Protestant churches do much in fighting against Satan. I don’t know how many here have met someone they thought was greatly affected by satan, but if someone of the sort shows in some churches, the people start praying and praying much for for them, and it can work. I would think that satan would be very angry against such groups. Catholics too can wage war effectively against satan, and in fact they have a ceremony that exorcises satan and Catholics are often reminded of their war with satan, as for example during the ceremony of baptism (and its renewal later on) when the people renounce satan and his works. This all opens the possibility that satan hates Catholicism especially, though I am afraid that he hates other groups too.

Satan has no power; other than what we give him, when we doubt, worry, or feel like God is not there for us! When Christ rose from the grave, He kicked Satan in the head, basically defeating death, over which Satan had dominion, and providing us a way to do the same things. If you rebuke Satan in the Name of Jesus, he must flee! So, it is not a matter of whom he hates more, if you are a born again Christian, Satan hates you! To claim he hates one faith more than others is bordering on paranoia:eek:

Satan does have power. He hounded St. John Vianney something fierce. – The Devil told St. John Vianney, “If there were three such priests as you, my kingdom [in France] would be ruined.” Here is one conservation St. John Vianney had with a penitent because of his gift of discernment:
  • Do you remember that you went to a ball on such-and-such occasion?
  • Yes, I remember.
  • Do you remember that at a certain moment a handsome young man entered the ballroom. He was quite elegant, appeared very upright and danced with several young ladies?
  • Yes, I do.
  • Do you recall that you had a great desire to dance with him?
  • I recall that.
  • Do you recollect that you became sad because he didn’t ask you to dance?
  • Yes, I do.
  • Do you remember that by chance you looked down at his feet and saw a strange blue light coming from them?
  • Yes. I remember.
  • That young man was none other than the devil who had taken that shape to tempt several of the young women there. He was unable to approach you because you are a Daughter of Mary protected by her, and you were wearing the Miraculous Medal.

netty313: So then, perhaps you don’t completely believe that Jesus stripped Satan of all his power, when He was resurrected? Remember Job? Satan had to ask God’s permission to do what he did to Job. That still applies today. Things like guilt, shame, worry, and doubt, are favorite tools that Satan uses against us. But if we are steadfast in our devotion to God, and we rebuke him, he must flee! Sure he hounds us, we’re Christians, and Satan loves nothing more than luring people away rom God. Being covered by the Blood of the Lamb, does not mean you will not face trials and tribulations(John 16:33)! But it means that help is always available!👍
