Do you agree that the devil hates Catholics more than anyone else??

netty313: So then, perhaps you don’t completely believe that Jesus stripped Satan of all his power, when He was resurrected? Remember Job? Satan had to ask God’s permission to do what he did to Job. That still applies today. Things like guilt, shame, worry, and doubt, are favorite tools that Satan uses against us. But if we are steadfast in our devotion to God, and we rebuke him, he must flee! Sure he hounds us, we’re Christians, and Satan loves nothing more than luring people away rom God. Being covered by the Blood of the Lamb, does not mean you will not face trials and tribulations(John 16:33)! But it means that help is always available!👍
Yes, however, Christ allows Satan to have power, so he IS powerful, and I believe the devil attacks the Catholic Church more than any other denomination. Why would he attack the little Bible Church down the street when they long ago ridded themselves of the Sacraments? Same for the Lutheran Church, etc. The devil fears/hates the Eucharistic Lord for it saves many a soul from death. Also the devil will attack priests more heartily than a minister of another denomination, for the same reason; priests bring to us the Eucharistic Lord. This is not to say one should avoid the Catholic Church because the devil attacks it more. It is Reconciliation, the Eucharist (Sunday is good, more frequent is better!) and the Rosary and Adoration and the Miraculous Medal, etc. that *battle *Satan; all tools of the Catholic Church. But precisely because we have these “tools,” we are attacked more profoundly than those who do not. I’ve heard tell that Satan follows you all the way up to the doors of the Catholic Church prior to Mass. And in some parishes (ones that are using liturgical dancing, etc.), they are leaving the door wide open for him to enter as well.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
395 The power of Satan is, nonetheless, not infinite. He is only a creature, powerful from the fact that he is pure spirit, but still a creature. He cannot prevent the building up of God’s reign. Although Satan may act in the world out of hatred for God and his kingdom in Christ Jesus, and although his action may cause grave injuries - of a spiritual nature and, indirectly, even of a physical nature- to each man and to society, the action is permitted by divine providence which with strength and gentleness guides human and cosmic history. It is a great mystery that providence should permit diabolical activity, but "we know that in everything God works for good with those who love him."275

netty313: Sorry to disagree with you, but Satan does not hate catholics more than other Christians:p I think he hates ALL Christians, especially those who are doing the Lord’s will, and ministering to the poor, widows, orphans, homeless, etc.! And why do we persist in fighting Satan ourselves, when we have a Mediator to fight our battles? Face it netty, the devil can’t beat you, unless you allow him to:cool:

netty313: … Face it netty, the devil can’t beat you, unless you allow him to:cool:
I don’t disagree with you on this … in fact, I suggested several ways to keep him at bay … 🙂

The other part (devil tempting Catholics more fiercely than other Christians) we will just have to disagree on … 🤷

netty313: For me to agree that Satan hates catholics more than any other religion, would be like me agreeing with black inmates, that I treat other ethnics better than I do blacks:p He just hates Christians, period!

Ever since i have become a catechized and enthused Catholic, it seems the devil pays much more attention to me…:rolleyes:

i think he hates Catholics more than anyone …

do you agree??
I don’t think he discriminates; he goes after anyone he can get no matter what your religious persuasion.

Satan went after St. John Vianney in a fierce and constant manner. They even came to physical blows. He did so because St. John was saving so many souls through Reconciliation, a Catholic Sacrament. I don’t think the devil goes after the “Cheaster” Catholic with any particular fervor, because he’s already captured him. But I do believe he goes after strong Catholics, daily Mass ones more than Sunday-onlys, with a powerful vengeance just like he did with St. John Vianney (and ALL the Catholic saints!).

Nice, very nice:D But let us remember this fact: ALL Christians are vulnerable to backsliding and being tempted! Jesus was and is the ONLY “human” who kept all Ten Commandments! No one mentioned OSAS, but it is an issue that is very contentious, and there are no definintive answers from either side. Are you a true Bible Christian? Have you lived a holy life? I haven’t, but thanks to the grace of God, I can repent, confess my sins, and turn back to Him for forgiveness! Listen, nobody, not you, not me, not your pope, or even the early church fathers have, or can live a truly holy life, as long as we have a sin nature in us, so accept the fact that no matter how often you read your Bible, pray, or go to mass, you will fall away;) Some fall farther than others, and some may have questionable salvation in the first place. My wife asked me,“If I had died when I was away from God, would I have gone to Heaven?” I said,“I don’t know, nobody does; but why do you believe that God saved you when you were in darkness, why didn’t He let you die?”👍
If Jesus was the only one able to keep the ten commandments then why did he give them to us to follow. ??? We are all able to follow them if we choose to do so.

Yes I once was very religous and trying to live a Holy life now, after all we are “ALL CALLED TO BE HOLY” The idea is to refrain from sin, people who believe thery are so called “Saved” do not worry about the commandments as they feel nothing can keep them from God in fact they place grace above gods laws… They both work together as you cannot claim you have faith and not follow the commandments.

This may be too narrow an explanation of the belief in OSAS! It may be safer to say, that some people who believe in OSAS, believe that because of grace and mercy, they have hope of reconciliation with God through repentance and forgiveness! For someome, anyone to believe that being saved is a license to sin is folly:eek: But I like the parable of the prodigal son; because I think that many of us can relate1 God does His best work in us when we are broken and hurting!
This was just a sample i have many more passages that refute OSAS… So tell when what denonmination of Protestant are you.?? since you do NOT profess OSAS. yet in your writings you seem to profess that doctrine.

Do you believe you can go to Hell or do you believe you are saved.?

Thanks, Jo an

I’m sorry… very.

don’t pay attention to some posters who are kind of… not too polite or wahtever… There are plenty of them here…

i know protestants who seem far more Christ-like than many oftheCatholics i know… maybe sometimes even including me… 😦 There’s just something about being Catholic… just difficult and whtever… and again, the devil attacks… i feel the whole non-C world misunderstands me and even Catholics do as well… because i am more… serious than many Catholics i know…meaning i don’t want to just sit around talking about mundane things and not doing much to change the world… that annoys some catholics i know… not trying to sound holier than thou… because i know i am a big sinner… i just wish people would stop focusing on temporal things… Tehy seem to be spiritual only in Church during the Mass… guess i just need to pray about that… but was trying to save most of my praying for the un-christianized… Ahhhh!! the work never ends…!!

hmmm… anyway… God bless… 🙂
nice post distracted you are right many here do not show christian love as they should while correcting those misguided christians that only have part of the truth. But as you said many truly love God and while they do not have to whole truth they have enough. Thank God. One think you said that you do not feel at home in other christian services I find interesting. I think most services like that are for the individual to feel good and not truly for God. This feel good feeling is why some leave the CC because it takes little effort on their pert to feel involved and to feel good. Mass you must understand and be fully involved to really get all you can out of it. In Mass we offer the pure offering to God as the bible says the gentiles will and this truly the devil hates because it is true worship of God during this assembly of believers. Money, Sex, Sports, and power are all gods of this world and many people strive for them much more than for God and as Jesus said you can’t have 2 Gods. So why would he attck someone who is not fully focused on God.

Lol 😉 I take no offense at your statement about humans. Yes my wife and I take care of humans too. We give to the poor and homeless bring food to our neighbors, we just have a lot of animals too. I’m not in RCIA, but I have studied Catholism for years. I have a problem with claims of only Truth and the only one. It is my problem. My mother was a craddle Catholic whom lived a good fruitful life. She was very dedicated to the Church and serving mankind. Of any Catholic I have ever met she was an example of how to be. Catholicsm intrigues me, but I have reservations. I have found many Scriptures the Catholic Church has no official stance on. **I ask too many questions such as where did Mrs.Cain come from ? **I believe the devil hates all of mankind, because all man was created in God’s image not just a chosen few. That there were actually 14 Apostle (Mathias was elected and Paul), why then did Apostles stop? My understanding is Apostolic Succession is not the same thing. These are just a few questions that have not been answered. My biggest problem is I dwell to deep in Scriptures, that makes most people uncomfortable.
Love this post 😃 I asked the same question when I was younger. Even got an answer.
On the only Truth question you almost have to believe in the Truth that comes out of the CC if you are a christain that believes the bible because the bible was compiled through the CC and thus through the CC given to the rest of the world. Thus the faith every christian has at least indirectly comes from the CC. While the CC has the Sacred Scriptures it also has and always had Sacred Traditions which might be why some things you do not understand by scripture alone. True Apostolic Succession is not the same. The answer should be here somewhere on CAF if you look or you can start another thread since it is outside this topic. On topic though I do believe the devil does attack those closer to God. Possibly devout catholics more but I do not exclude any true believer that truly loves God with his whole being. Are these attacked allowed by God used to; strengthen your faith, help you to grow in your faith, a test, – I think yes but do not for sure know.

Those Navy Cadets must be flying high after Saturday’s win(second consecutive time) in Notre Dame’s own crib!! Whoo, Hoo!👍
Proof positive that the devil attacks Catholics at a fiercer rate than others. What better college to bring down into Satan’s sludge than the University of Notre Dame. There are, however, ND grads and other lovers of Notre Dame that pray for Her full return to Catholicism.

“Anyone who has read the works of Fr. McBrien, and several other professors, knows that there is a threat to (Notre Dame’s) Catholicism from within as well. But unlike Harvard or Yale, Northwestern or Southern Cal, all former Christian universities that are now secular schools, Notre Dame has the weapon to fight all heresies, namely Notre Dame Herself … for the modern infidels to take control here, they would have to blow the Dame off the Dome, rip the heart (the Eucharist) out of Sacred Heart (Church) and lastly, rock by rock, tear the Grotto apart. And legions of Her sons and daughters would willingly die martyrs before they would allow that to happen” -from “Champions of Faith” by Tom O’Toole

Another ND grad, Michael Voris, who is working hard for ND/our country and pro-life causes has created a video that is well over the million mark on YouTube.

And, by the way, are you pro-Navy, anti-Notre Dame, or a little of both? 🙂

do you agree??
Personally I don’t agree with this, but I can see why a catholic would think so. I just don’t agree that the devil if he is as described by the catholic church really would do that because he desires to destroy love at its core, and that can be found everywhere amoung all peoples at all times and places.

Satan has no power; other than what we give him, when we doubt, worry, or feel like God is not there for us! When Christ rose from the grave, He kicked Satan in the head, basically defeating death, over which Satan had dominion, and providing us a way to do the same things. If you rebuke Satan in the Name of Jesus, he must flee! So, it is not a matter of whom he hates more, if you are a born again Christian, Satan hates you! To claim he hates one faith more than others is bordering on paranoia:eek:
can i say this , satan does hate all christians but truly despised the RCC because that is the one truine church of christ… he has scandalized it for 2000 years and he continues to do so he especially hates the saints or holy people doing gods work

but yes i agree he does hate all christians in gerenal

Don’t worry about how much the Devil hates you or anyone else. Worry only if you are living a good Christian life, loving God with all of your heart, serving the church, and loving and serving your fellow humans. When we keep our focus on God the hate of the Devil does not matter. If you feel angry at God for how life is at the moment then I would suggest reading the book of Job. Instead of getting angry pray to God and thank him for all of the good days to come.

Yes, I know the feeling very well. I was raised Catholic but I went through a period of serveral years as an atheist. I thought I wanted to be a man of reason and logic but behind the reason and logic I was just hollow and empty. During my atheist period I was a graduate student at The Catholic University of American but instead of enjoying the fellowship of so many other Catholics I spend my time looking down on them. It was a hard road back but thankfully I found my way back to the love of God.

Remember that no matter what God puts before you to endure he loves you.
I just wanted to make a comment on the last thing you said. I think that we all need to remember that God did not put these evil things before us, Satan did. I feel we should say instead,“Remember that no matter what Satan puts before you (hard times, temptation, sad moments), God will help us through it and He loves us.” 👍

Been tryin’ to figure out exactly what the title of this thread really means! Do catholics really believe that satan hates THEM more than the rest of us Christans? Look at it this way; If you are unsaved, you are already in his camp, so why would he cae about you? It is when you are preparing to do, or are in the middle of doing something, anything for the Lord, that Satan loves to stalk you, tempt you, and persuade you to turn away from God! I don’t think he hates one religion more than the others; he hates US all(Christians, that is). Those Navy Cadets must be flying high after Saturday’s win(second consecutive time) in Notre Dame’s own crib!! Whoo, Hoo!👍
I agree, Satan hates all Christians. Even those who have lost their way. Although they sin and are already in his camp Satan knows that at any moment they could find their way back to God. Satan will continue to stalk those who have faith in the hopes that they will stumble off the path of salvation and he will continue to torment and attempt hold down those he has steered off the path. Keep a watchful eye at all times and recognize that all negative things in our lives are because of Satan. He knows his days are numbered and that is why we are seeing his massive hatered all around us. We have to pray not just for ourselves but for our brothers and sisters who lost their way because Satan continues to blind them from the truth. And as followers of Christ we should help our brothers and sisters find their way back with prayer because Jesus taught us to love and care about everyone saved or unsaved. 🙂

netty313: Retired Navy, actually! I always enjoy watching a perennial national power get knocked off by the underdog; you know like when the Yankees(biggest payroll) got knocked out of the playoffs last year:thumbsup:Besides, Notre Dame does not get that much persecution; in fact, even in their worst years, they are offered bowl game invites! Hey, BTW, someone told me, that you don’t have to be catholic to attend ND. True or false?

I always thought the devil hated anchovies more than anything.

distracted: Just reread your post about you feeling like Satan hated you more, or was after you ever since you became catechised, and enthused:D And then it dawned on me; well of course he would, you were drawing closer to God; something he really hates in ALL Christians!👍
