There are plenty of verses in the New Testament in which God is described as a loving Father who cares for all His children, good and evil alike.
God has a general love for humanity, but his “adopted” children (ala- 1 John) he has a special love for.

The key word is “ultimately”. Natural disasters are not intended or caused by God but permitted. God is the Creator not the Destroyer.
God caused the Flood… that is clear in the OT as well as the NT.

Some disasters, as humans call them, are cause by God… he has told us of several specific ones. Some are allowed, but yes, ultimately they work together for good AS I SAID myself

What do you mean? And no, not having a legitimate girlfriend is not an excuse to be a priest!I mean that the girlfriends you may - or might - have had could well have brought you more misery than joy… I specified “probably” because many relationships are unsuccessful.

That was a quote from the New Testament re: the OT Flood

“Literally” as in the type of literature, intended audience, history behind the writing, use of imagery/metaphor vs direct language, etc : YES
Woodenly literal as a Fundamentalist: NO !!!

You still have not supported your opinions with any evidence from any source whatsoever

For the record, I have had 9 ex-girlfriends. However, I cannot really call them as legitimate due to the fact that my relationships with each one of them were rushed. And yes, all I got from that was misery. So, how was that a blessing!?

The belief that God** intended** thousands of innocent people to be drowned is incompatible with Christ’s teaching that God is a loving Father.

The fact that you didn’t get married!

Tonyrey… I have given you many answers and could give more, but the burden of proof for your assertions are now on you, because you are claiming them.

The fact that you didn’t get married!
The thing is, I was barely 17 when I first started (November 2006) and I was barely 20 when I ended (November 2009). Here in the Philippines, the legal age is 18. Sine 7 of the 9 failed relationships were online and all 9 of said relationships were rushed, marriage was an impossibility. And yes, marriage was not on my mind back then, hence making the idea of marriage at that time impossible.
For the record, I was wrong when I said it was 2 years. It’s actually 3.

God does not control the weather, seasons, or the elements directly
On the contrary, a person who believes God intervenes and frequently works miracles cannot possibly be a Deist.

A person who believes God controls the weather, seasons and the elements directly and not through the laws of nature is a Calvinist who believes in Predestination.

Then you still have plenty of time! I pray that you find a suitable woman fairly soon. 🙂

Since Predestination is spoken of in the Bible, what is your view of that doctrine? Not only Calvinists, but ALL Christians recognize it exists in some form.

Also, as you are also a Catholic, how can you not trust the writing of the Apostle Peter, as I quoted above? Was Peter wrong?

Also, I have said God has told us of disasters he created. Some are ordained, some are allowed via the weather patterns , fault line shifts, etc as being ALLOWED (not necessarily caused). God works in many ways

There is no point in continuing this discussion if you believe God** intended** thousands of** innocent **people to be drowned - which is clearly incompatible with Christ’s teaching that God is a loving Father. 🤷

Agreed, there is no point discussing this with you anymore, because you have not brought one teaching of the Church or passage of scripture to back up any of your claims.
If you don’t like my answers (which are all directly from holy scripture) then take it up with the Holy Spirit, who inspired the writers.

It was interesting attempting dialogue with you.

Peace

Genesis chapter 7 For in seven days I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and every living thing[c] that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground.”

He’s going to blot out every living thing he’s created - that shows intent to me! If you’re going to emphasise the ‘‘innocent’’ bit, no way could anyone seriously argue that new born babies, the babies in the mothers wombs, and very young children are not innocent.

Sarah x 🙂

There is no doctrine of the Catholic Church which states that God kills innocent men, women and children.

Let’s leave it there. 🙂

God bless

Yes…I certainly do…and I also believe in devine intervention to give you that “Luck”.
