Do you cross yourself when a hearse passes?

Yes! Usually more than once! And I say the Our Father and a Hail Mary or two, and ask God to have mercy on that soul.

For a while, every time I went out, I ran into a funeral procession. It really became quite creepy. That no longer happens but it was probably at least a year where almost every time I went anywhere, I saw a funeral procession.

Weird, huh?

No. But I am one of the few people left in the world that pulls over for a funeral procession.
 
Yes, always, and say a prayer for their soul. The same when I hear or see an ambulance.

Bet you get honked at and flipped off a lot! People pay very little attention to funeral processions unless it’s to get exasperated when the cops block the intersection to let the procession get through.

Really? That is sad. I know a few months ago my dad mentioned that he saw a funeral procession and everyone on the road got out of the way.

Yes, we stop here also when a funeral procession goes by. I usually cross myself and say a brief prayer for the deceased and the family. Hail Mary, Our Father, Glory Be and whatever spontaneous prayer pops up. I do a similar thing with sirens. Maybe not all every time, but a siren is a trigger for prayer.
 
We should also cross ourselves when we pass an image of The Lord, The Virgin, or of the Saints.
 
I always cross myself when I pass a Catholic Church as Jesus is present in the tabernacle.

I have not crossed myself for a hearst, don’t know why, I do at the casket during visitation or the funeral! This thread made me think.

I always pray when an ambulance goes by, but there too have not crossed myself. I guess a convert can still learn some thing new every day.
 
It would be a workout if you were a traditionalist Catholic that worked at a morgue 😃

In all seriousness though, I cross myself when I pass churches…although I often forget…😦
 
When passing (driving or walking) a Catholic Church, it is customary to Cross oneself and say the following prayer:

“May the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament be praised, adored and glorified in all the Tabernacles of the world, now and unto the end of time.”

Where I live, it is common place for drivers to pull over for funeral processions; you’re more likely to get flipped off if you don’t…
