I’m a returning Catholic and looking to start my first fast, but I’m also an avid coffee drinker. I’m just curious if other Catholics are drinking a little coffee when they fast.
I’ve often heard this, but never saw any documented evidence for such a claim…could you share it?I do. However, no sugar or milk (in other words, no calories).
Peace
Tim
ps - Black coffee actually has one or two calories, but that is so low that I consider it to be negligible.
Documented evidence of what? I promise that I drink coffee during my fasts.I’ve often heard this, but never saw any documented evidence for such a claim…could you share it?
I heard someone once say you can’t chew gum…again, I’ve never seen the justification, but perhaps there is one.
Peace and all good!
Oh, sorry, I misread and misspoke…I thought you were saying there was some sort of rule of fasting that prohibited drinking coffee with cream and sugar, not that it was your method…my bad…Documented evidence of what? I promise that I drink coffee during my fasts.
I don’t know if drinking liquids is included in an official fast, but I don’t think it is.
Peace

Same here. I usually take it with milk and sugar but will drink half a cup without adding anything on fast days.I do. However, no sugar or milk (in other words, no calories).

Yes, I drink coffee on fast days, but no flavored creamers that I normally use. I don’t think the intention of the fast day is to be asleep at your desk and unable to function.I’m a returning Catholic and looking to start my first fast, but I’m also an avid coffee drinker.
