Do you ever chat with God?

good question. Is there an official chat line on the web by the way? Id like to use it.
I chat to Him but sometimes I have to wonder if I am not actually chatting to myself. As a wannabe writer I can imagine what his lines are. Something like this:
“Call yourself a good catholic? How about behaving like one! And get off Catholic Answers right now. You hear?”

On top of everything else that God is, he is also the best friend that we could ever ask for.
I have trouble with the concept of best friend and our judge at the same time, though, to be honest.

All the time. I like it better than rote prayers, though they have their place. The Gloria belongs in Mass, what I think of a good trout stream or a maple tree in autumn when it turns that delicious color similar to the area around the pit in a peach, that is just having a chat with my BFF (to use today’s lingo)

wouldn’t even know where to start.
Respectfully suggestion only. Start with by just saying >>hello>>beautiful sunny 🌞 day you have given us today, thank you for this blessing ! Peace 🙂

I do often. Imagine the Lord sitting across from me as I let out my problems and give thanks for the blessings in my life.

Ignatian spirituality has a lot of focus on this, I think. I’d recommend St. Ignatius of Loyola’s writings on prayer.

I do a lot of thanking for everyday things, and a lot of asking for help. I’ve gone through periods where the dominant tone is something like “oh no, ok, now what?” I also share humor and irony. God is obviously a very good storyteller.

God is not limited by our imagination or perception of Him. Don’t you make judgements about your friends that don’t impact your friendship with them? Are you friends with you children or neices and nephews? Are you friendly with your boss, teachers or subordinates?

If God can be the Trinity, being a friend and a judge is a walk in the park.

Try talking to Him like a friend. See what happens. You will never know if God is your friend if don’t give Him a chance. I felt odd the first time I tried it. It has worked for me. It may for you.

I sometimes try to chat with God …but am confused and doubt whether I chat with God, someone else or my conscience.

I have two dogs that I walk religiously and I often find myself chatting with God while out on a long stroll. I lost my Mum in 2017 and talk to her too, I pray she is safe in God’s hands.

Very often. In fact ,if God weren’t “all patient” , he would be tired hearing from me by now.
