Actually, I saw the clarification in the next post. It is still confusing because you say there was a priest there which implies a Catholic wedding.

Thus is the reason this was said in a few previous posts. The clothes do not make the man/woman.
You can dress like a derelict and be the most devout person while a person that dresses to the nines can be a so-so in their faith.
I have seen instances of both of these…
Their is nothing saying that a person dressed to the nines is not as devout or vice versa your clothes are not a reflection on how devout a person is, IMHO
Once again I did state that it was not a religious wedding, it took place outdoorsI don’t think it was a priest, or rather, it shouldn’t have been. This would be against Church teachings in soooooooooooo many ways. Weddings in a Catholic church are always a religious ceremony and Masses are too…
**And some people are missing the point that “jeans” may perhaps be other peoples best outfitSo, once again, it seems that most are missing the point that denim isn’t the problem, it’s about people not dressing their best for Our Lord. …

Once again, you said priest, which I’m guessing now, it wasn’t.
And some people are missing the point that “jeans” may perhaps be other peoples best outfit

bear06Yes, and again, this has been covered. I think if you’ll re-read the thread you’ll find that there was no condemnation of denim. Just about all of us who have said that we are for dressing your best at Mass when possible have said they have actually worn jeans to Mass before and that there are some people who’s best clothes are jeans. This is not about jeans, it’s about dressing your best before Our Lord, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.

It seems that I our posts are crossing…sorry about that!
Nah about $20-30 is about what I pay for my jeans…And that is based on what you can afford. Now I can buy a pair of Haggar dress slacks for 30.00. Some pay way much more for jeans. So it goes back to ones intent.
Can you afford dressier clothes?Nah about $20-30 is about what I pay for my jeans…![]()
as to day to day clothes I choose to buy things that can be worn any day of the week, not just buying something that is going to be worn one day of the week…that is a waste of money to meCan you afford dressier clothes?
So, basically, you never dress up for anything else because you have no dressier clothes? If so, then it sounds like you are wearing your best.as to day to day clothes I choose to buy things that can be worn any day of the week, not just buying something that is going to be worn one day of the week…that is a waste of money to me
My jeans are nice tailored ones that are always worn with a nice blouse or sweater and penny loafers (pennies included).
Nope dont dress up…if we cant go in jeans, khakis or sweats we are not goingSo, basically, you never dress up for anything else because you have no dressier clothes? If so, then it sounds like you are wearing your best.
Am I getting this right? Clothes for Mass would be a waste of money? So, basically, you never dress up for anything else because you have no dressier clothes? If so, then it sounds like you are wearing your best.
For me spending money on “special clothes” is a waste of money…especially if I can only wear them on one day of the week.Am I getting this right? Clothes for Mass would be a waste of money?
I see.For me spening money on “special clothes” is a waste of money…especially if I can only wear them on one day of the week.
No you dont…you think we should all go out and spend money on clothes that you deem right for Mass.I see.![]()
