Do you fear Death?

Let’s wonder if we actually can see „Death“. We can not, no-one ever did, for we can only see what exists materially. In that case as an imaginary figure „the Grim Reaper“ which doesn’t exist.
Any journey we neither can see as a thing nor face to face, but experience the journey as an event, episode or incident. Now, there are journeys we don’t really know where and how they end - just like presently the tragic refugee’s fate who flee from Islam-terror.
We Christians however know precisely where our throughway called „death“ leads to - to Jesus Christ, if we believed in Him and lived a life in His doctrine, which He told us detailed, when He was among us. What else then but joy is this last journey of ours, which is simply this (admittedly dark) door to Jesus Christ we have to pass. John 11,26: he who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?
 
I even sometimes feel a cheering inner joy when thinking of „Death“ because I know - don’t hope but KNOW, that he who believes absolutely in God the Son, will live forever together with Him in God’s eternity forever:

John 3,15 .…so that everyone who believes in Him has eternal life. …… The one who believes in Him is not judged. …… Now this is the basis for judging: that the light has come into the world and people loved the darkness rather than the light …… For everyone who does evil, hates the light and does not come to the light, …. But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God.

Hence; why shouldn’t we even look forward to pass this door called „death“ that leads to the loving Jesus Christ!
Why then is „DEATH“ always pictured as horror instead of Jesus Christ welcoming us
As walking through this very short moment of „Death“ means
JESUS CHRIST WELCOMES YOU

Such our talk and thoughts about the topic ought to be alike saying; „I look so much forward for my vacation“
I mean, we all look forward to see God. Why then edit out the door we got to pass to see God?!

You won’t forget this idea! Believe instead in Jesus Christ’s love! “He who believes in Jesus Christ will not be judged” (John 3,18)
Reason:

I never heard the name Peter Kreeft before, but I never heard such disbelieving word either. “when one is dead, his eyes are also dead.”

I all my life claim same as in the Gospel is to be read: There is no death!
So, what’s he talking about?! To speak such is not the way Catholic Clergies should spread belief with. Suchlike talk extinguishes belief in those weak in belief.

You ask: Do you deny that someone’s eyes die with the rest of him??
To separate a person’s eye from the rest of the bnody, doesn’t make any sense and really sounds daft indeed. Some here I translated this to, laughed about it. Same you could ask if his stomach or liver or nervs die with him. Same silly.

Fact is, that no-one ever is dead.
 
I recently stopped taking my medication for depression. Within a few days, I fell into a deep depression where I could hardly move and my only thought was that I wanted to die. It was as if I fell into a black hole and could not get myself out of it. I felt a deep emptiness.

It was not at all a worthless experience, and I think everyone, especially psychologists and psychiatrists, would benefit from this experience at least once for a short period of time.

There are studies that have shown that depressed people have a more accurate perception of reality than non-depressed people. I personally believe that based on the reality of my deep depression, we should all look forward to death.

I quickly began my medication and the depression quickly ended, and my spirit was greatly lifted. As I write this, there is a part of me that still fears death, but I now believe that once prepared and within the will of God, death is a great blessing! I believe it’s ironic that as a society, we mourn and weep for those who die.

I don’t think depressed people have a more accurate perception of reality than the chronically well; deeper perhaps. The poor in spirit are blessed in that there’s is the kingdom of God. When one cannot depend on one’s own capacities one is more open to surrendering to God. On the other hand, many people give in to bitterness, cynicism and a hate for life. I’ve heard people say that depression is frozen anger, turned inward I would imagine.

I don’t fear death. It’s the dying (I erased all the graphic details) that i don’t look forward to. I do live in hope of going Home. But, since this life is our path, I would like it to be long enough to reconcile myself with God.

As to mourning the dead, think “black hole” and “emptiness”, what life is like without love.
 
It has been said at the hour of death satan will attemt to snatch our souls one last time. We ask the holy mother to pray now and at the hour of death for this reason. Prayer and a good prayer life will make you strong at that hour .

would like to hear more as it pertains to “it has been said at the hour of death satan will attempt to snatch our souls one last time”. Yes I agree, in our prayers we do ask for intersession at the hour of our death…just wondering if this is your thoughts as it pertains to the last hour of death or it comes from other source/s.

Pope Francis concluded his homily by urging his listeners to think about their day of judgment and how they will fare but not to fear that moment because quoting once again from the day’s reading, the Lord tells us, “remain faithful until death and I will give you the crown of life.”

Well, I am going, to be honest. I have to say that sometimes it scares me. I was sent home to die last month by the doctors and so I am on my own. The doc doesn’t expect me to be around for Christmas, but, that’s up to God. Facing my own death as I am now, I have to say, sometimes when I think of it, the unknown scares me. It is not what will happen afterward because I know what will happen. I will see Our Lord Jesus, the King of King, the Just Judge. How can I fear Him? I don’t fear Him and I don’t fear what will happen after death. If Our Lord sentences me to hell - Amen. If He sends me to purgatory - Amen. If He sends me to heaven -Amen. I trust Him to make the best decision and I am ready and at peace to accept it and live with it. What scares me a little bit when it presents itself to me out of the blue, is the transition. The moments before death and the actual transition. The transition is unknown and is a little scary. But, it’s a bridge I have to cross. 🤷 I also don’t know how horrible the weeks prior will be. I do understand that I am blessed to know ahead of time that my time on earth is running out. It gives me time to prepare my departure.

In regards to your eternal salvation the hour of your death is so very important When you pray the “Hail Mary” prayer, you pray specifically for this sacred hour. But it is also an hour when the evil one will lash out at you one more time to try to steal your soul for all eternity It is essential that you spend your life preparing for this sacred hour by your prayers, a life of sacrifice , and a life of charity But it is also essential that you pray for those who are in their last hour For some this is a moment of true spiritual battle. See it as a duty of charity to regularly remember those who are in those last hour in your prayer. They will thank you in heaven.( See Diary #1798)

Reflect upon your death this day and especially try to pray the rosary for this moment. Consider also making a commitment to pray for those who are dying. Death brings many temptations such as fear , and is a time when much grace is needed. Pray that every soul including your own will enter this hour with confidence and faith trusting in the abundant mercy of God.

Lord I offer you my last hour in this life and pray for all those who will face this moment today May it be a sweet hour when we are surrounded by your Angels and Saints. Wow…I am in a similiar situation as you, I don’t know if ironic would be the correct descriptive word at this point but neverless I will share my thoughts with you. So long as I “keep the I trust in You” on the front burner I am fine. The fact that I have “never” experienced death kinda hangs over my head sometimes if that makes any sense. I do know this, it CAN be very lonely, even though you have family and loved ones with you its a one way ticket for 1 person and you are the owner of that ticket.

Revealing some of my inner most thoughts and experiences…Jesus is preparing me for death. Without getting into details, he continues to prepare me or shall I say awakened my mind and soul to certain aspects of death and what you go through…both sides of the coin would be a fitting analogy. For sure it is a comforting thought that Jesus provides Divine Mercy for those who chose it rather than opting for his other hand that offers his Divine Justice.
