What “faith”? This is an non suitable word, so you have a double faith one for believing in your god and another one for not believing in other gods? Do you have faith for believing in your religious stories and another faith for not believing in other religions stories, there is no “faith” in a disbelief. You are only practicing an irritating non logical approach and not a fruitful or rational one.Irrefutable! The faith of the atheist is based on sheer negativity…
Thank you. I would think I’m going to hell because I commit sins that I don’t confess and then miss mass and communion. If I were to die in this condition, I think my damnation would be almost certain. This sort of thing happens so often to me that I am reconciled to the idea of going to hell. Why would you think you’re probably going Hell, hopefully things go better with your struggles, it’s definitely better for everyone to never have been.
Those who think they are bound for hell. Non-existence is better than an eternity in hell. Think about it, until you were born, or at least until not very many weeks or months before that time, you didn’t exist, and yet you probably aren’t particularly upset by that fact.Aside from the suicidal or the nihilistic, who in their right mind would actually desire non existence
Your extremely dogmatic reply reveals that you have “complete trust and confidence” in your interpretation of reality which is supposedly “logical” even though our primary datum and sole certainty is our mental activity. We** infer **the existence of persons and things from our perceptions. What “faith”? In other words you agree with Schopenhauer that it would be better if life had never existed on this planet? What difference there is between negativity and reality? When often “negativity” is a description of reality. How can you for example find positivity in a dying hungry child? to teach you a lesson? I don’t think anyone’s growing on personal level is worthy the child’s suffering.
In some respects, so am I. Don’t get me wrong; I have a good life, but there are some aspects of it that I’m tired of.No, I am not afraid of death.** Actually, I’m looking forward to it.**
Sounds like Job. Elijah, Tobit, and even St Paul prayed for death. In other words you agree with Schopenhauer that it would be better if life had never existed on this planet?
No, I hate my life and everything about it. I simply want out.In some respects, so am I. Don’t get me wrong; I have a good life, but there are some aspects of it that I’m tired of.
But being bodily alive is awesomeNo, I hate my life and everything about it. I simply want out.
Glad you feel that way. But for many who suffer in chronic physical or mental distress they don’t feel the same way for they battle with their illnesses 24/7. I’m sure they wish they did but that isn’t their reality. But being bodily alive is awesome

And yet there are people in severe situations of suffering or disability who still love life. And many who claim to be ready to “welcome death” aren’t bodily broken at all.Glad you feel that way. As a nurse it was not uncommon to hear people in those situations note at some point they were “tired of fighting” and they would welcome death at some point of debilitating illness.
Not that we are to take our own lives of course, but there are people that struggle.
Mary.
Yes there are.And yet there are people in severe situations of suffering or disability who still love life. And many who claim to be ready to “welcome death” aren’t bodily broken at all.

It makes no difference. When you know you are going to Hell when you die anyway, it makes no difference if you take your own life or not. That sin becomes moot. Not that we are to take our own lives of course, but there are people that struggle.
There is a vast difference!Sounds like Job. Elijah, Tobit, and even St Paul prayed for death.
How can anyone possibly** know** that for certain? It makes no difference. When you know you are going to Hell when you die anyway, it makes no difference if you take your own life or not. That sin becomes moot.
