I had to miss Mass this weekend because of the stomach flu, and even though it wasn’t my fault, I still feel really cruddy for missing. I always feel this way when I miss. I can’t wait until Sunday. 😃

Yes, yes, yes! Moreover, back in the days when I did not take my Sunday obligation seriously, my non-Catholic husband often said, “You don’t do well if you don’t go to Mass.”
(Apparently, he found it made me far easier to live with.)

Oh my goodnes do I ever! I can’t concentrate or focus. I try to pray a lot to make up for it, even though I only miss it when I’m sick! But, Mass is the highlight of my week. Nothing can suffice!

I totally get what you’re saying even though I am pretty sure that the other parishioners would be grateful to you if they knew. Excellent example of Christian charity! Also, many areas have Mass on tv for these occasions. (When you are not preoccupied in the bathroom, of course :(!) Best wishes for your recovery! 🙂

I went to mass on Saturday night. I had to visit another church on Sunday-not my choice. Even though I did go to mass, I feel weird.

Daily mass is awesome, too. Last week was my first week where I went, and I did several times. I decided one day that I wouldn’t go, and mid morning, I regretted it. So, I caught a lunchtime mass by my office 🙂

But, Mass is the highlight of my week. Nothing can suffice!
I agree, 1.going to the Church,2.meeting Jesus in the Holy Tabernacle,3.Confessing with my Spiritual Director, and 4.Celebrating Mass has been the highlight of my week, especially numbers 1,2 and 4 and i can’t imagine missing Mass, thank God i haven’t been too sick to miss it, although i think one of my tonsils is inflamed and that is worrying me, please pray for me.

I’m the odd one out I guess.
I love Mass and love going to Mass.
But, due to my job there are times I cant.

No, I never feel “off” to be honest.
But it could be that I strive to make a spiritual communion everyday, and I am always striving to pray continually (which for me means talking with Our Lord or the Blessed Lady.)

So no, I never feel “off” when it comes to Mass.

I feel “off” when I sin, however.

I am praying for you! I only had a problem with my tonsils once and that was totally enough for me!!!

Yes,

I go to Mass everyday before I go to work. If I have a day off and decide that I am not going to morning Mass, well, the fun begins. The Holy Spirit starts nagging me so bad that I will do anything to please him so he won’t convict me so hard. I can’t resist Him. Unless, I am really sick, and then He doesn’t nag me, I am out the door and on my way. Even the thought of missing Mass, the turmoil within me starts and won’t let up until I go.

I think you’d get different results if you posed the question to singles. My mental health is better when I don’t have to be at mass (so much so I can skip some meds some Sundays.) OBVIOUSLY, families and couples and seniors will feel “off” since they’re openly welcomed with open arms and appreciated and have homilies tailor-made for them. If a single dares to make an observation of less-than-edifying experience, they’re lectured about how they’re not there to be entertained. Textbook double standard.

I used to feel “off” when I did not go to Mass when I was younger and did not fully understand and forgot that going to Sunday Mass is an obligation. Don’t get me wrong I went to Mass on a regular basis but there were some rare occasions that I missed a Sunday Mass.

As I became aware of my faith and understand why I am Catholic I know it is mortally sinful to miss a Sunday Mass or Holy day of obligation. As a sinner who wants to be a faithful Catholic I know understand how Jesus is offended when I do not accept his invitation to attend Sunday Mass. Attending Mass for me is a gift and the high point of my entire week all thanks to the love and grace Jesus gives me.

If I do miss Mass, it’s usually because I’m not prepared to go–so I’d say in these cases, I don’t feel “off.”

Yes, i feel like a bad person and feel that i do let the Lord down. Weekly i attend 4-5 times to mass. In time i hope to make it daily.

I’ve only missed Sunday mass once in my life but I felt horrible. 😦

Yes, I feel “off”, but I don’t dwell on it because I never miss Mass on Sunday without a good excuse, and I know I did not commit a sin.

Yes, like something is missing.

The last time was due to “liquid” coming out both ends and I couldn’t even make it to the kitchen let alone to Mass.

Absolutely! I cannot tell you how much I look forward to Mass each time I go, and when I miss it, I really feel like my week just goes downhill from there!

If you CAN"T get to Mass or if you are sick and cannot go, then you are not at fault. The TV Masses just don’t fulfill a Mass obligation. They may make you feel better but they do not count as a Mass attended. (and that is according to Fr. Z)
