This fact of what the matter of worship is which is found in the celebration of the Eucharist is true whether we understand this much about it or not. Still how much of The Lamb’s Supper can we ever truly understand? Let God be God and let’s not tell Him what He can do.
I have found mass to be fun, and to be joyful and to be sorrowful as well as to be dry and strangely ordinary. Perhaps some of this is my emotions or mood but when these are dominant then I am not worshipping well. God has led me to a happiness that has a zeal which is fun. He has led me to a joy of spirit that gives immense comfort and joy. The intensity of the spiritual affect of mass is far greater than moods or emotions.
God truly stirs our souls as He moves us to receive Him. Or, as the occasion may arise when He finds it necessary to remind us of grave matter handled poorly, to not receive Him. Even when He nudges me to recall a matter of which I must reconcile myself with my brother who I have treated wrongly He can fill my spirit with intense joy. He may offer consolation while reminding me of right judgement. God is very good, praise be to Jesus!
Perhaps my foolish writings on CA Forums, as an example, have risen to scandal. Either in ignorance or in disobedience I lead another to anger or occassion of sin. By ignoring right counsel or with imprudent haste I post a response impinging on someone’s conscience and contrary to gradualism and the truth of church wisdom in ecumenism or other teachings. Yup, it could happen and not knowing the spiritual condition of the other a matter I see as simple or obvious can be a grave offense to the other. Even if, God can still make mass fun, or joyful, or sorrowful, or dry for me.
I try to conform my will to what He has for me in mass because it is both a matter of respecting His authority which takes special precedence before The Eucharist and also because Our Loving Father does what is best for each of us. Let go of the reigns at mass, especially, and let God. The celebration and the good of your soul will speak better for it. Loving God is letting God. Try discerning why He is not wanting us to look and feel as the “frozen chosen.” Let Him love you, especially before Him at mass.

People think all sorts of things.
I don’t much care what Protestants think on this matter.

Have a nice day.

False worship:

Ex 32:17 When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a noise of war in the camp.”
18 But he said, “It is not the sound of shouting for victory, or the sound of the cry of defeat, but the sound of singing that I hear.”
19 And as soon as he came near the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, Moses’ anger burned hot, and he threw the tables out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.

Worship in truth and spirit:

Phil 2:9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Heb 12:28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe;
29 for our God is a consuming fire.

Peace and God Bless
Nicene

Do I find going to Mass fun? No, Mass is never fun. It’s not meant to be fun. Occasionally you’ll see a pastor visibly doing everything he can in an effort to make it “fun” for everybody, but the outcome is exactly the opposite. It’s just depressing to witness that sort of vain endeavor.

evangelical, you see the unity we have with the importance of the love of the unseen? “we walk by faith, and not by sight” (2 Cor 5:7, vulgate) Is that evidence that you are willing to accept? “Now faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not.” (Heb 11:1, vulgate)

I see great things in the statements in this thread. Unity. A fruit of the Holy Spirit. Catholic churches are not started by a resentment around a coffee pot (I had to think for a while - it was Fr. Benedict Grosechel, CFR who said the coffee pot statement). There is substance to our foundation. And I will pray you discover it.

No… But I was never one to find much fun in any extroverted situation, even when I was without faith (parties, concerts, etc).

How do you know they’re fake?
Just because they don’t worship like you that doesn’t mean theyre not sincere.
And it doesn’t mean they’re childish.

Where do you think we go when we attend Mass? Our souls are lifted to HEAVEN!!! It does not get more fulfilling then that!

Definitely. When I was a muslim, I used to go to Jumuah prayers on Friday. It was very dry. There was no music and hardly any talking to other people. Within Christianity, worship is much happier than it is in Islam. Islam is all about your own experience with God, whereas Christianity has everyone on their feet, dancing and singing to the Lord. I love to make a joyful noise! 😃

So yeah, I find worship in church to be much more exciting than what Islam offers.

Worship’s primary focus isn’t on our enjoyment. The real focus is on God. I would like to see some reverence and I say this as a Protestant. It wouldn’t hurt if songs had more theological depth too. I find many contemporary ones ridiculously shallow and too much focus on how we feel.
Praise and worship shouldn’t always be uplifting. I would find it inappropriate for Good Friday services to be uplifting. That’s a time for morning.
The overemphasis on personal happiness in some churches miss the point and is even unbiblical in some cases.

I know its fake because the empty gaze and silly smile is something you’ll develop very quickly when you join these groups, its brainwash culture, they lose their individuality and its not genuine behaviour

Our Spiritual discernment of our situation in life. You described very well.
Valid bullet points

I’m still not going to presume that I know everything that goes on in the mind of another person.

I’m not planning to throw over Catholic theology for any other religion, but I have devout Protestant friends, and they have their hearts in the right place and I pray the theology will follow…

I also have some devout Christian friends who are not catholic. But, their faith and the love for the Lord is so inspiring. Their examples helped me develop a stronger catholic faith.

I can have fun at Disneyworld or in Vegas. I can go to a rock concert if I want to sing along with everyone.

I can worship the Almighty creator of the universe at Mass.

I do. I have fun. I have to admit it.

Some people have noticed me with a happy demenour -

Let’s face it - it’s God’s House - away from the world -

A refuge, for me anyways.

Love singing the songs ( quietly lol )

Love seeing the people, at all various walks.

Love, and if I can, encourage the Priests.

And - obviously - the resurrection of myself - eucharist - revitalized !

I always walk out of church different and for the best.
I agree with everything you said except I guess I sing rather loudly, lol.

I cannot recall I had fun during mass but more a sense of reverence and awe. I was certainly not going there for fun.
