Do you give 10% to the Church?

Don’t believe that, come the day of judgement, those who have given less than 10% (be it gross or net) will prevented from entry.

People give what they can and many help the Church in non-financial ways - does that make them any less worthy?

It isn’t all about money, and to trivialise faith to such a metric is just depressing.
 
We give 10% or more of our income to charitable organizations, including our church. Our parish doesn’t not get the whole 10%.
 
My husband and I are working towards giving more. We give generously now, but know that we want to give more.

He also said to me that he wants to get involved and help out ~ and he’s not even Catholic, he’s Lutheran. It was very comforting hearing this.

Regarding tithing, it’s a wake-up call to know that your parish could be closed due to financial hardship. Buildings don’t fix themselves, and heat isn’t free.

Regarding what TimH stated about tuition, here you receive a discount on your tuition if you are an enrolled parish member, and I’m sure it has something to do with your tithing (I don’t have children in school and only know of what I read on the school’s site).

My grandmother always said, you pay God, you pay yourself, then you pay your bills.

If you can’t do the first 2, lessen the 3rd to where you can.
