i am fearful and yet also discontent because the bible passage that says “i have not come here to judge the world but to give you life, and life in abundance”. … is somewhat of an “assurance” to me in that what I do on a daily basis, however faulty and weak as a human I have without the grace of God, that I am still loved and assured and not judged etc.
sometimes though when you notice things about yoruself like unhealthy attachment just for example, you may start to think the flip side, that you are condemned etc etc.
basically i am sort of starting a protestant vs. catholic once saved always saved debate without actually starting one, i just want to see where Catholicism applies these principles…
we all know how beautiful and powerful and empowering and tear shedding scripture can be because "if god is for us who is against us " etc. yet , if you are on the flip side of that same coin the bible is very very severe even brutal to evil doers, and do we as catholics constant flip between the two side so the coin is what i mean?
how do we stand when we mortal sin? i know we are out of a state of grace but often its a time to get closer to God, are we still free from the condmenation? can condemnation ever extract back? etc.
there is also a verse on having enough oil ready, that the women who didnt have enough oil or fell asleep were not in good shape, etc
basically im questioning scripture and salvation
