Cave canem, si vis pacem para bellum

That means that if you enter uninvited in my house and my dog will not maul you, then be prepared to deal with my 9mm. 😃

**I am an American, a disabled veteran of the Vietnam War. I am a Republican who would never vote for any one who supports abortion. I say all that to say two things:
  1. Shame on you people :tsktsk:
  2. My country (President) right or wrong! 👍
Now that that has been said, here is the Most important statement ever said:

NOVI ET AETERNI TESTAMENTI: MYSTERIUM FIDEI: QUI PRO VOBIS ET PRO MULTIS EFFUNDETUR IN REMISSIONEM PECCATORUM Haec quotiescumque feceritis, in Mei memoriam facietis. "

This is my faith, this is my life, God Bless all of you, God Bless America! God Bless our President! **
i totally agree w/ you. i too am a republican but for the sake of our country i pray for the president. i want him to succeed because if he succeeds then we do too.

Excellent! However, you left out: Quare clausam fregit, Quia Emptores, Caveat Emptor, Coram nobis, Reductio ad absurdam, Scire facias, Modus operandi, De novo, Mens rea, De donis, Mutatis mutandi, Res Adjudicata, Res gestae, Testatrix, In haec verba, In re, and, of course, persona non grata.

I don’t know any Latin to speak of (pun not intended) but I have always liked:

“Arma virumque cano…”

Oh yes, and when things get a bit tough, I do remember my reproach to God. (Yes, I do that some.) I have always been impressed with this:

“Quia tu es Deus, fortitudo mea? Quare me repulisti? Et quare tristis in cedo, dum affligit me inimicus.?” (pardon any misspellings)

“Where are you God, my strength? Why do you keep me so far away? And why do I go about in mourning, afflicted by my enemies?”

Obama delenda est.
This reminds me of something. When in high school, my daughter was a very good debater. Occasionally, she would debate against a high school team from a town named “Carthage”, whom she particularly disliked, for reasons I no longer remember. When she left to a tournament at which the Carthage team might reasonably be expected to participate, she would always say “Goodbye. Et Cartago delenda est” upon departing. She always did a pretty good job of getting it done, too.

you could use “puer rosam dat” the boy gave the rose.
you could use stuff like…amo, amas, amat, amamos, amais, amant. i love, you love, he she or it loves, we love, you love (archane) they love. (i didn’t do well in the course) have a good year. (alih)👍

One of my favorites: nihil est ab omni parte beatum. Or, perhaps: intellectus merces est fidei.

Hi Deacon Ed, 👋

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: miserere nobis. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: dona nobis pacem. **

It’s: amo, amas, amat, amamus, amatis, amant. And “puer rosam dat” would be “the boy gives the rose” – “dat” is third person singular present.

Deacon Ed

Semper ubi sub ubi. 😃

More seriously, I know some phrases from Mass (most of which have been already stated) and the longest of which I can recite is probably “Domine non sum dignus…” but I’m slowly learning the “Pater Noster.”

In law school we were exposed to a number of terms that never usually get used but occasionally tend to show up in one form or another (pun intended). Off the top of my head:

res ipsa loquiter
habeus corpus
in forma pauperis
in limine,
ex parte
corpus juris civilis
corpus juris secundum
de minimus
affadavit
per curiam
res judicata
quantum meruit
subpoena
de novo
stare decisis
pro hac vice
locus in quo
mens rea
in re
in rem
jus ad bellum

There are probably hundreds more that I have heard but completely forgotten. Only a few get used with any regularity in day-to-day activities.
