Do you guys know any Latin statements!

Okay…I know a few Latin phrases, but I am not master by any means. However, I gather that the people here can get a laugh from Latin so you might find this amusing.
Salve, o alienigena! Est mihi nomen Midas. Rex sum Phrygiae, terrae clarae quae in Asia Minore est. Propter casum infelicem, omnia quae tango mutantur in aurum. Cuius multa milia librarum mihi sunt hoc autem quasi vexatium onus deponere pervolo! Ergo transmitte mihi, sis, numerum rationis tuae in argentaria taberna, et numeros chartularum fidei tuarum, et numerum chartulae largitionis senioribus publicae, et nomen avi tui materni. Numeris receptis, ilico tibi remittam navem onustam lateribus aureis. Mihi gratum facies manus meas exonerans his rebus! Tibi multas gratias ago!

I pulled this out of Latin for All Occasions, sorry if i messed the mood up, but I usually have no one to share these things with. For those of you who can read it I hope you got a laugh, and I will put up the translation later 🙂 .

How could I have neglected to mention “Duc in altum”. I have it on my screen saver, even. It means, more or less, “head out into the deep (water)”, Jesus’ words to the apostles when he directed them to go out into the deep water to fish, whereupon they pulled in so many fish they nearly sank their boat.

I despise Monty Python’s “Life of Brian” but love the scene where Brian is painting graffiti in Latin and the Roman centurion is correcting his grammar. Ho-larious!

Are you using the online course? It looks interesting. You can also get a DVD of prayers in seven languages, latin included, from Holy Baby. It’s for kids, but it helps you to learn the prayers.
 
Four years of Latin in HS, and I barely remember a thing. I’ve tried to forget the experience (40+ years ago ) and have up until now.

What I remember is, what the kids used to say about it. Latin, it killed the Romans and now it’s about to kill me. 😛

There’s even a little rhyme about it …

‘Latin’s a dead language,
as dead as dead can be -
first it killed the Romans,
and now it’s killing me!’
 
Thank ya guys and I am a member of the National Junior Classical League and the only Latin 4 kid at my school.:D:pI love Latin and real catholic nobody is going against Obama but why would I want socialism to succeed!👍

My Latin is over 50 years old. I am glad it is a dead language.

nos adepto quis nos quaeso quoniam nos quaeso is. Deus refero totus preces bonus quod nocens!

Our country is a democracy. Our nation policy is to kill our babies. How can we expect God to help us? We can make changes by voting and protesting. I will be on an aboution protest line in 4 hours where will you be? I voted against Obama, if all catholics did guess what he wouldn’t be President!

However He is our President and we have to support and defend our way of life. We must protect America from all enemies foreign and domestic.
