I fill my bottle in the baptismal pool…the water is filtered, and I presume safe, I’m not going to drink it anyway

Hi dakotamidnight,

You can go to the regular font, problem is usually those aren’t clean sources (you may get floaters, in other words). Probably just due to everyone dipping their fingers in them.

Look instead for a small vat with a spigot – usually stainless steel and not in too conspicuous a place. Not all churches have these, but if they do, they’re usually near the main entrance.

Thank you for saying that, we have an approx 5 gallon vat with a spigot that is stainless steel in the front of the church by the side door. I can’t believe I said basin. I am losing my mind. The word just wouldnt come to me earlier, prob bc of past-grad research causing early senelity.

I keep meaning to get myself a font. Ewtn.com has quite a nice selection of them. Right now all we have is a bottle that has a cross on the side with the words “holy water” on it. We bought it from this Christian book store that has a wide selection of Catholic merchandise, including rosaries and Icon replicas.

Our hands are not consecrated as a priest’s. We have the power of blessing, due to our receiving the sacrament of Holy Orders, when we become deacons

Thanks for your answer.

I get my Holy Water from a spring that is blessed annually by both Catholic and Orthodox Bishops.

WOW that is awesome. I bet that spring is beautiful! What a neat experience that must be to get your Holy water from a spring. I wish we had something like that here. It has got me to thinking to see if I can find one

Yes - By the front door and in each of the bedrooms. We also carry small bottles on us. It is wonderful to have and frequent use helps remind the kids that God is Lord over everything and present always for us.

I have two fonts…one in my bedroom and one at the door to the garage, that is where I come and go. They are always filled.

I was at a Catholic book/gift store and they had those glow in the dark crucifix fonts but they certainly weren’t .50 cents!! (someone mentioned they got one for that much) I had one of those in my room as a kid, I’d like to have another one…guess I’ll have to break down and get it 🙂

I sprinkle the thresholds of my bedroom’s and doors to the outside as well, from time to time. I also take a bottle of holy water in my car. And on trips.

Well the only reason I got it so cheap is because the owner always gives me discounts.

Yes! We have a small font in the hallway which is central to the house and right outside our upstairs bedroom door. I have another font that I may put by the back door which is the one we use the most.

I bless myself every night before I go to bed. DH does not use it as often as I, but he’s working on that. 😉

I’m glad this thread was made. I am out at the moment and need some. I had no idea you could order it from Lourdes, wow.

I have one moderately sized bottle of water from the River Jordan that I keep around my dorm. I of course use it sparingly.
