Do you kill bugs?

I use Lysoform,and also drops of bleach in kitchen and bathrooms. Non negotiable.
We did away with carpet long ago. All sorts of hardfloor to be cleaned with water .
I fumigate inside the house myself every two or three months.
If I can sweep a bug away,I do. We have resources to keep them away.
But if I allow bugs free in the house it would really be " taken"…It is a" buggy" environment outside the house.

Actually I’m not a pacifist on bugs especially on cockroaches. I guess you’ll need a small portion of alcohol, water and ground pepper
 
Your house is your holy land, you have the god given right to smash all who trespass under foot. bonus points if you yell deus vult while doing it.
 
I bombarded a wolf spider with three drops of pine essential oil. Apparently, the oil is a “central nervous system depressant”. It killed him within 30 seconds and I flung him outside.
 
I usually don’t. I usually kill bugs if they’re being pests, like ants or cockroaches. I have nothing against them, but if they come to my house, then they will usually have to die because they’re being nuisances. I leave them alone though if they stay outside where they should be. My conscience does act up when bugs look pretty, like butterflies or ladybugs. I’m not sure why that is.
 
You’re not weird. I too sometimes feel sorry for the bugs when I kill them. I am excited for the second coming though, along with the new heaven and new earth. At least when that time comes, no human, animal, or creature will die. Hallelujah!

Outdoors: we’re all good, I’ll step around ya little guy.
Indoors: (with a screaming wife and freaked out kids), sorry little guy, but you’ve trespassed into my house and must be dealt with. My boot drops, kleenex cleans it up, watery toilet grave.

I traveled to Chennai, India (formerly Madras) last year on business. OBTW, I got to attend Mass at the Crypt Chapel at the Basilica of St. Thomas. The Apostle Thomas is reputedly buried under the altar. Supposedly Peter sent him to India to spread the faith and he was martyred there. For me, it was a great experience.

Anyhow, the hotel I stayed at is one of the best in town and there was a hotel employee whose job it was to walk around the hotel with a handheld bug zapper that looked like a small tennis racket. He would just walk around the hotel all day zapping bugs. It looked like fun!

So when I got back home, I got one of the zappers. I thought it was fun at first, but got bored with it. My wife thought it was gross at first, but to my surprise, she is now hooked on it. Anytime we have a fly in the house, she is on the prowl with that thing!

So yes, we kill bugs. And we have no compunction about it whatsoever.

I’ve been doing that to lately. Last week I saw an injured mouse in my house and I tried to revive it with food but it died. I have no idea how it got injured because the blood trail ended by my ironing board in the middle of my kitchen, I assume it was another mouse. Yesterday I saw an injured wasp outside and scooped it up on a paper and put it in a flower pot. I can’t say I’ll never kill bugs again but I haven’t lately.
 
How well does that thing work? How do you have to get to zap the pests? Would it work on little brothers too?
 
Alright folks, what do you think about the morality of taking antibiotics? Does anyone ever feel the urge to show a little compassion to the little bacterial gappers within them?
 
I personally think we should ban the entire medical profession just out of principle here.
 
Depends. Like so many other areas of life, I am inconsistent :roll_eyes:

I’d say as a general rule of thumb: If hubs or son finds a bug, I have them kill it or flush it down the drain. If it’s ON me or I find it…I smash it. 🤷‍♀️
 
Crickets are cute. They perform each night with their chirping, and they also make good food for the lizards, who eat them with one gulp. We have little geckos here where I live, and the crickets that congregate on the side of the house are fair game for them.
 
Yes. There is a bounty on the head of a certain mosquito as I type this.
 
A few years ago, my wife alerted me that a moth was flying around in our kitchen. I came in, jokingly held out my hand and said, “If you want to live, fly into my hand.” To our astonishment, the moth promptly flew to me and landed on my hand. Then, I carried him to the back porch and he flew away into the night. I certainly think that choosing not to kill an insect is a valid choice after seeing this. But I refuse to make this offer to spiders. 😎
