Palm Sunday mass went better than I deserved. Every obstacle or challenge was resolved or melted away. We had some terrific readers - we had 9 adults including Father for the Gospel reading, one adult and two children for the 1st & 2nd readings and Psalms.
As for me, this was the first Palm Sunday in the other church in our parish, the first mass where I was crawling around whispering instructions, searching for missing collection bags, opening hymn books at the right place for children and generally clucking around like a mother hen whilst trying to be invisible to the congregation.
I also discovered that this church (which I will be attending after Easter) has a bigger congregation and even fewer folks undertaking ministries. So goodbye to my idea that moving was sensible for First Holy Communion Preparation as I could just concentrate on that and maybe help with Children’s Liturgy if they have enough helpers to get that off the ground. Word also travels fast, so as I entered the church, the sacristan wanted to show me where everything was, but I had to defer as we were about the rehearse the readings and accompanying actions.
