Just wondering what everyone was planning to do on Thanksgiving Day. I realize that it is not a holy day of obligation, but still, many of us still like to go.

Yes, I went last year and was pleasantly surprised by how many people were there. I’m definitely going to Mass Thursday.

I live by myself, no family nearby. I intend to go to a morning mass, even though as an RCIA Candidate I cannot partake of the communion. In the afternoon I will have dinner at the local Alano Club. In the evening I will spoil the cats.🙂

I’ll be there on Thursday. It’s one of my normal days to go to Mass, though this week it’s at 8:00 am rather than the usual 6:30 a.m.

I’m hoping to. Turkey needs to be in the oven at 9am, so hoping we can find a mid-day mass. We don’t always go to our own parish, so not stuck at our own Church.

Obviously not a holy day of obligation… but it’s nice to go and “give thanks”!..
We won’t be going to our own parish, as the only Mass on Thursday is right during our family meal…
But another local parish has an earlier Mass, so we’ll be going to that one… 😃

Depends…my husband and I will be travelling starting late this afternoon (from downtown Chicago) to northeastern OH, so it depends fully on when we get there and what mass times are available. Last year, I wanted to, but I think we didn’t because we woke up too late. His family is Catholic but only go on Sundays, so getting away can be difficult sometimes. I hope so though :). I miss daily mass, as I am not able to go during the week due to long and early/late work hours.

I’m fortunate to be able to go to daily Mass, so I will definitely be there for Thanksgiving Day. It’s a bit difficult to do so, since I am having ten for dinner, but the table is set, and all side dishes are cooked and just need to be warmed. I just have to mix the stuffing with the bread already cubed the other day, and onions and celery all ready chopped and waiting to be sauteed.

Attendance at Mass on Thanksgiving is always very good. Almost all filled up. It’s sort of like an unofficial holy day!

I plan on going to the 10 am Mass at my local parish. I try to attend daily Mass as often as possible and would hate to miss tomorrows.

We will have a big mass with three priests, three deacons and three choirs [English, Spanish and Vietnamese]. It is one of our major events. Mass will be in English, but readings and Intercessions will be idistributed to include all three languages.

600-700 will attend.

The Vietnamese will supply several hundred loaves of French Bread from their bakery to be blessed and distributed to all; so that we all will have a blessed food for our table at home.

Wow. That sounds awesome! 👍

We had about 900. [Good thing the Fire Department wasn’t around. They were three deep in the back and on the sides. We have been fined in the past.]

About 50 or 60 in the combined choirs.

Vietnamese ladies in formal dress took over the ushering. Many of the Vietnamese wore formal dress. Quite colorful.

No way. The “Thanksgiving Mass” here is an ecumenical service…there will be lutheran and epicsopalian ministers at the “Mass”. No thanks. I don’t go to protestant services.

I almost didn’t go because I had a rebellious pie in the oven that refused to get done in its allotted time and the rest of the family wasn’t up yet to watch it (I am at the moment the only churchgoer in the family). I wasn’t stressing over it too much, since it was a voluntary, not a mandatory Mass. Then I heard a little voice whisper “You’re putting a pie above Me?” which snapped me back to reality so I kissed my husband goodbye and asked him to please take the pie out when the timer went off, which he did. I’m so glad I went because it was awesome. As it turned out, we had 4 priests, the church was packed and we ended up with fully voiced choir, a brass ensemble, a violinist. (Our church has one Mass on Thanksgiving). Our music director was a little freaked because we only had a few minutes’ rehearsal time, but everything came together beautifully. What started out as a sacrifice ended up a blessing.

We went to the noon Holy Mass and we were even blessed with a baptism!!

But we did the Jenny-O turkey in a bag and it didn’t work for us. 😦

The pecan tart made up for it.

Yes, I went to Mass on Thanksgiving. While it is not a Holy Day of Obligation, I still feel it is an important day to go to Mass. There is so much that we should be Thankful and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is one of them.

Yes, our family attended Mass…the church was moderately packed. After the Prayer after Communion, our pastor blessed apples & distributed it to everyone along with a Table blessing and encouraged everyone to share not only bounty of our tables at home with those not present at mass but also the blessing provided. It was a beautiful gesture and I think many people will return next year.

I went intially because my choir was singing at the Mass, but when I got there, I was so pleasantly surprised to see the church packed with people! Two of our three priests were there to offer the Mass. I think this is going to be a tradition in my family from now on, whether or not I’m singing in the choir!👍

I was planning on going to the noon mass but I didn’t check the web site and I didn’t have the bulletin hanging around the house from this past Sunday and I missed the part about Mass being CANCELLED on Thanksgiving!! They had a Mass at 7pm on Wednesday night instead. A lot of churches changed the time (most Churches have their daily Mass at 7:30am) so they changed the times to like 8:30am or 9am but I wasn’t up in time. I tried to go to the noon Mass and that didn’t work so I went to the one Church I know of that never is locked…in fact there is no locks on the doors of this Church and I spent some time in quiet prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament instead.
