Do you prefer glasses or contacts?

I’ve worn glasses for over 50 years now, and never tried contact lenses. The construction work I did exposed my eyes to all kinds of dust and debris, so glasses were the better choice for me.

I’ve worn glasses since 4th grade. I don’t like the idea of putting something directly on my eye, so I never tried contacts.

Contacts. I hate having something in my field of vision and constantly having to clean glasses. Plus, I’ve gotten to the point with contacts that I can pop them in and out with zero effort. The whole “touching your eye is weird” thing really lasts for like three days.

It’s still weird.

And the am watching carefully to see how this thread goes. Based upon genealogy, I will eventually end up with corrective eyewear.

This thread may help inform my decisions.

Glasses. I had contacts for a while, but find glasses less of a hassle and sanitary risk, and less expensive in the long run.

I have gotten used to how my face looks with glasses (and I really like my current ones), and I feel naked without them 😅

I wear glasses for reading only, which means I’m constantly putting them on and taking them off all day long. I wouldn’t want to have to do that with contact lenses.

I’ve worn glasses since I was ten. I high school and college I wore contacts, but had to ditch them for a few years in the Air Force. Eventually they allowed them for flyers and I got contacts again. I had corrective eye surgery when I got out of the Air Force and didn’t need glasses for six years. I started needing reading glasses and eventually distance correction, so I switched to progressive lenses, which I’ve worn since. I don’t see ever going back to contacts now.

Glasses 👓. I never figured out how to put on contacts fast enough not to be late in the morning.

I initially got glasses in 6th grade for reading only. In my thirties, I was wearing them full time and decided to try contacts. Yeah, I had to get over the touching my eyeballs thing! By my four ties, I started to have the typical age degeneration of my eyesight. I really didn’t want to go back to glasses but I needed correction for both near and far…there weren’t bifocal contacts them. Instead, I did mono correction…farsided lens in my weaker (right) eye and near sided one in my dominate eye (left). It takes a few days for your brain to adjust to them…stairs were especially scary!

Wore those until I just got tired of the cleaning, taking them in and out, cost and remembering to reorder in time and went to glasses for the first time in years. I mostly love them. I did run into one problem…when working on troubleshooting an analyzer in my lab, I had to get down very low then look up into the analyzer. Because I have progressive lenses, I was looking out of the far vision portion but needed to have the near vision of the lower portion of my glasses. I discovered if I turn my glasses upside down…it worked great! No one can see you wearing upside down glasses when your head is inside a big analyzer anyway! 😂😂😂

I own five pair of glasses and love to change up my looks with them. I’ve heard people complain about the cost of so many pairs but, to me, the expense was more than worth something that people see every time they look at you!

I had glasses in firth grade but really didn’t wear them. In 7th I couldn’t see the board had to start wearing them full time then. I tried contacts but I never could get use to them. Much later I tried again when I got an eye infection because I don’t have enough moisture. I would have contacts if I could. ☹️

Glasses for me. I can’t abide digging around my eyeballs; or
having them slide up in my eyes.

Plus I like to peer over the rims at people 😀

I think it’s cute when a woman wears her glasses on top of her head.

I could never be able to tolerate anything placed into my eyes, so glasses is it for me. I have several pairs, and there are really some very attractive styles, colors and patterns out there in frames and lenses. I like two-toned tinted lenses in colors that match various outfits in my wardrobe. There’s a place in my area that tints lenses – all I have to do is tell them, or show them with their samples, what I want.

Fashion glasses are really quite cool – and any pair of frames can be filled with lenses in one’s own prescription.

So many of us wear glasses or contacts! 🤓
I never picture any of you wearing glasses in my imaginary images of you! 😊

I wore contacts for almost 20 years but i found my eyes being very dry and uncomfortable at the end so i switched to glasses a few years ago. I do not think ill ever go back to contacts. I had to learn to point my head more to ensure i was looking through the lenses, instead of just glancing with my eyes but its second nature now. I 100% agree with the post above that you get over the “touching your eye issue” in a few days.

I prefer glasses.

Used to prefer contacts, but nowadays, I prefer glasses.

Contacts dry my eyes out.
