Just for fun, tell him that the founder of the Catholic Church was a devout Jew and He left a bunch of His Jewish companions in charge.
That’s a great pithy quote there. And yes, I respect the Jewish Faith as our elders siblings in Faith, and I am saddened by certain parts of some Catholic’s history marring the image of the Church Divinely instituted. Thanks and God Bless.

Absolutely! The Jews have a special relationship with God. He chose to bring us his Son through the Jewish people. They truly are our “older brothers”.

Some of my very favorite people are Jews and such a bigoted remark is offensive even to me. That’s just plain wrong and shameful. Guess that guy forgets that the Messiah is indeed Jewish. How stupid of him.
Baruch HaShem!

When I reminded a fundie that Jesus was a Jew, he had a rather disgusted look on his face and replied, “No he wasn’t! He was a Christian!”

When my mother-in-law was a year old(1939), her mother and father escaped with her from Austria. They were told later that the day they left, soldiers came in their house looking for the father! Many members of my hubby’s family were killed during that time.

Although we are Christian, we still often light the candles on Friday night for the Sabbath. My hubby is still interested in the faith of his grandparents even if he is not a practicing Jew. One of the things that has begun to impress him about Catholisim is that some parts of the Mass resemble certain parts of a Jewish service.

Yes, not only do I respect the Jewish faith but I would and have attended a synagogue.

I have respect for the Jewish faith. One of my friends is actualy jewish. The reason why I have respect for the Jewish faith or any religion is that I am very tolerent of other religions :).

I was recently told off by some fundy that the Jewish religion is a crime against Christianity, because they don’t accept Jesus as their lord and savior. I told him that I have a GREAT respect fo tthe Jewish religion because the Jewish Religion is the roots for Chirstianity, and that they were Gods choosen people. I respect them MORE than some Protestant denomination. So my question is, do you Respect the Jewish Religion?

I hope so 😃

But none for Christians who spread tired old anti-Jewish untruths. ##

One might say if you do not respect Judaism you do not respect Catholicism. They gave us the Torah, the first five books of the Bible; the Tanakh, the Holy Scriptures. They also gave us the Greek Septuagint. And like the Oral Tradition in Catholicism, they also have an Oral Tradition in the Talmud.

They believe also in the Messiah as Catholics do with the only difference being whether or not Messiah will be coming for the first or the second time. And when Messiah (Jesus) comes again, the Jews, Jerusalem and Israel will have a great role to play in the end time events.

Is it not true that to respect the Jewish faith means that one also respects the people of that faith?

“We realize now that many, many centuries of blindness have dimmed our eyes, so that we no longer see the beauty of Thy Chosen People and no longer recognize in their faces the features of our first-born brother. We realize that our brows are branded with the mark of Cain. Centuries long has Abel lain in blood and tears, because we have forgotten Thy love. Forgive us the curse which we unjustly laid on the name of the Jews. Forgive us, that with our curse, we crucified Thee a second time.” Pope John XXIII.
