I find that I can’t concentrate on the Rosary when driving. I also can feel myself becoming drowsy when I try to do it. I have a bad history with that while driving, and do not need to take any chances.

Could it be saying the rosary curbs your tongue? It seems to work that way for me!

I attended a funeral of one who had this practice. He was killed in a car accident because he was distracted. The passenger, who was praying with him, survived but with permanent injury. In my opinion, it’s as bad as talking on a cell phone while driving.
The Colonel has a good point. I used to say the rosary while driving. Problem was it was so peaceful it was almost hypnotic. One time I was saying it and I almost nodded off at the wheel. If you are going to say the Rosary while driving, don’t do it if you feel drowsy, or are in heavy traffic.
My two cents.

Padre Pio was famous for saying more than 30 rosaries during the day. I find it hard to believe that he wasn’t partially deviding his attention during one of them.

While he was a bilocating saint, he was also human.
Indeed. One hesitates to criticise a saint, but there are photographs of him with the beads in his hand while being interviewed. I don’t see how that is giving full attention to either activity…

The other point is, at a minimum of 15 minutes per rosary (and that is fairly rattling along), 30 rosaries would take him. four and a half hours, if my arithmetic is correct…

I do free style wrestling, and every evening except weekends I go to workout.
I always pray before training.
The time when I get to workout is the time for prayer.
I cannot help but pray, for in this activity you see and feel your complete dependence on God.😊
I thank the Lord, He helps me very much, even in a miraculous way.😊
Therefore, I always go to training as a holiday.😁

After participating in this thread, I decided to play an audio version of the Rosary while I drove. I found that the CD actually made it harder to concentrate on the Rosary. When I just pray myself I can stop praying for a moment when I need to pay more attention to the road. With the CD playing I have to pray at its pace, and I was out of synch a few times. I think the best technique is to pray at your own pace using a single decade Rosary (or your fingers).

There were some times when I prayed it out loud when driving through a snowstorm and trying to stay alert at night trying to drive over a mountain pass. Mostly because I was genuinely scared.

I find formal prayer and driving to be just too difficult (and safety is a legitimate concern) I prefer it where I can truly sit and focus. I do enjoy listening to it while working or driving though.

ABSOLUTELY!!! The Rosary is something I pray in many different locations and situations. It brings me PEACE and calms my anxiety!

I used to start my daily commute around 4 in the morning, and I would always say one decade of the Rosary in the car when I left the house. That was how long it took to get to the freeway, and once there I needed to devote my full attention to driving.

These days, I say a full Rosary every morning when I take my daily walk to and from Mass.

Absolutely! I use pressure with my fingers on the steering wheel to keep track. It has really helped me drive more like a Christian as opposed to driving like Attila the Hun

Twice a day. On my way in to work and on my way home from work.

I have a very short commute, but I have a skill on my Amazon Echo called Prayer Buddy and I use it to say the rosary before I get out of bed. It also says the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

I used to with a CD but not so much anymore. I found that I was saying it verbally but at times not concentrating on whole decades at a time because I was so focused on driving. It was causing me stress and anxiety. These days I try to pray a decade here and there throughout the day, 2-3 minutes at a time instead of a whole rosary at once works better for me.

I don’t drive, but sometimes I have the chance to say the rosary together with the driver.

I have to say - that’s a lot replies !

I’ve only been on this site two weeks - so many great people !
It’s been very inspiring for me to read the topics -
and about so many angles of the faith, freely discussed.
Not to mention the sly humor also.
