Have you actually read about the event? It took law enforcement 72 minutes to get to the shooter. 72 minutes!Actually guns ARE part of the problem. No one person should be able to kill that many people that quickly with that type of weapon. Whenever there’s a fire or earthquake we adapt and take steps to help reinforce and prevent future structural and other architectual failures, but with guns we cannot simply do NOTHING. There has to be some kind of change, whether in closing gun show loopholes (which is almost unanimously agreed upon) , making these “bump stocks” illegal or at least harder to get//have to register etc, and most of all, just common sense, which no one seems to have on the panicked “Gun control means they’ll take our guns” side, which is false.
I disagree. It is going to depend on the law and the punishment for breaking the law. Having stricter gun control laws will make guns more difficult to obtain. the guns used in the Connecticut massacre and in the Las Vegas massacre were all obtained legally, were they not? There should have been laws in place preventing the sale and distribution of this type of weapon. If those laws had been in place, the outcome would not have been the same.A dozen new laws won’t help.
Are you kidding? The 2A is already highly restricted – especially here in California with ridiculous laws.What really blows my mind is we can’t restrict the 2nd amendment in any way.

Single-shot hunting pistols like the Remington XP-100?I do support the second amendment, and FYI, nearly every pistol being made today is semi auto. Revolvers and singles stopped being popular in the Reagan admin.

The NRA is the US’s oldest civil rights organization. All the rest of the legitimate pro-gun lobbying groups summed together don’t equate to a small bit of the NRA. As a lifetime member I often cringe at their public face. On the other hand, were it not for the NRA, things would be far worse in terms of “gun control” today. The NRA gets a great deal accomplished. Not always in a visible manner though. It’s outstanding at lobbying. It’s that expertise and success that draws the hatred of people like Hillary Clinton.The NRA does not speak for all gun owners, nor is it the only pro-gun lobbying group out there. It just has the highest profile and tends to shout the loudest. The NRA has at times actively tried to undermine lobbying efforts by other pro-gun groups. From my perspective, they’re so concerned with keeping their little piece of the power pie, they don’t get much accomplished.
