Do you think priests should be allowed to marry?

The only question is whether or not Mary of Magdala was married to Jesus, or merely his disciple. Given the description of the marriage of Jesus, it is probable that she was both his wife and disciple.

OMG, when are these non-Catholic Christians going to get it?🤷

I have never seen a description of the marriage of Jesus. Could you tell us where it is found?

Thanks,
Paul

Absolutely, priests should be allowed to marry!

But I am not Catholic so I can’t tell yall what to do 😃

Eunichs were castrated so that the royal attendants were not accused of being the father of the heir to the throne. In some courts, performing sexual services was one of the duties of the eunich.

I’ll also point out that amongst child molesters, castration has no impact on the rehabilitation rate.

hmmm…are we back to this? I thought we were through with this discussion. I believe that a eunuch cannot have sex because they have no testosterone to maintain what it takes to ā€œperformā€. 😊

I would question your second point but haven’t read enough about it to really do that. What is your source? I know there are legal and moral arguments about chemical and physical castration.

the Bible also says it is better to marry than to burn (with desire…).
But that doesn’t mean it is better to be a ā€œmarried priestā€ than burn with desire. How about seeing your calling as marriage rather than the priesthood if you have that burning desire?

you’ve been to that movie haven’t you?

I don’t even really understand why the non-Catholics are in this discussion as it has no effect on them at all whether our priests are married or not. They are just using this as a nice opportunity to tell Catholic how wrongly they have interpreted the bible.

I’m a Catholic. I understand why they are in the this discussion…because it is a puzzle to them and most of them are Christians.

I’m beginning to question the whole thing myself as a matter of fact.

Yes, but being non-Catholic it doesn’t affect them as it does you. What difference could it possibly make to them? I’m reading quite a lot of ā€œhow wrong the Catholic church isā€ to the point of a little ā€œbashingā€ going on.

I think it is a matter for the church/denomination to decide. If a church doesn’t want married priests, then that is fine. A religious minister who can’t abide by the ruling of their community should leave that community.

Yes, I agree.:yup:

Are you suggesting that humans know better that the Lord Jesus, the Son of God who in His perfect in wisdom picked a married man (Peter) to be a disciple? Are you suggesting that the Lord Jesus made a mistake, that He should have only picked single men?
St. John the Evangelist was single. Jesus clearly did not see being single as a bar.
So you are following a man instead of following the Lord Jesus.
Dream on. You REALLY do not see the inconsistency in your view, do you?

I am suprised we havent had any of our Seperated Brethern tell us that poer Scripture Priests HAVE to be married(but dont dare call them Father).

ā€œdescription of the marriage of Jesusā€? 'Scuse me, but do you mean Cana?

Hey! Don’t lay this at the feet of all ā€œnon-Catholic Christiansā€. That would be a grave disservice to ALL serious Christian Scripture scholars and defenders of the faith.

i am absolutely 100% sure my calling is not the priesthood…

seeing as how i am female…
