Do you think you can go to Mass too frequently?

Seems like there’s a consensus that going as often as you can is ok. I’m still pretty new to this whole church/Mass thing so still finding my feet.
Will definitely try to over think less!

Really? Interesting. I’ve got the Divine Comedy on the go at the moment but still haven’t made it out of the infierno. It’s like wading through treacle this translation.

The link you posted does not say one has to be elderly, infirm etc. so it does not support your original contention.

The two main reasons I attend two Masses and receive two Holy Communions in one day are as follows:
  1. I attend daily Mass for the day in the morning and then attend a vigil Mass for the following day which is a Sunday or holy day after 5 in the afternoon.
Or
2. I missed a daily Mass during the week and have a plenary indulgenced work for that day in need of a Holy Communion to complete the conditions.

I see no prohibition or problem with receiving twice in one day for either of these situations. I have also occasionally done so when I wished to offer a Mass and Communion for someone in need, for example I just heard someone died, or a person is very ill or suffered a disaster, or I wish to do something for the Holy Souls. I don’t see this as being an issue either since it is an occasional thing and not every day.

Right, and there is no additional condition required except that.
You don’t have to be elderly, or infirm, or have the first reception be at a Communion service, etc.

Went twice today. I often go 4-7 days/week. Hasn’t become routine yet. I figure I and the people around me benefit from the grace.

As long as you stay from the offeratory you can receive the second communion. My understanding is you don’t have to be there from the beginning.

I think it depends on the person and the purpose. A priest suggested I try daily Mass for a week. I tried it and after day two I wasn’t into it. There are times I go to Mass other than Sunday and Holy Days but it is because I am drawn to go. Otherwise, I feel it would become mundane to me. This could change at a different part of my life but currently I feel I would be trying to prove something. I never want to feel like Mass is a daily “to-do” just because. Others feel differently and that is ok, in my opinion.

Acts 2:46-47 Revised Standard Version (RSV)

46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they partook of food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Never too much, even in the nascent church we met daily for worship then the Eucharist. However as a reminder the Eucharist is once a day.

Peace and God Bless

Daily mass God willing for me. It is the greatest work of the day. But that is because I can go daily. Many people can not go daily due to work and family responsibilities. Charity begins at home.

Thanks to everyone for all the replies, opinions and advice. If I have the time and I am feeling the pull I think I’ll just go to Mass and not over think it.
Glad to hear it’s not out of the ordinary to go to weekday Mass quite regularly.

Thanks again guys 😊

If you attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass out of hte motive of pure love of God, you cannot attend too frequently. But - communion only twice per day - it is not like taking vitamins - it is spiritual food which can last for all eternity.

There are some who attend out of superstition, out of OCD, out of love of the magesty of it all, or other reasons. Best to avoid lapsing into something like that, as it can become an empty gesture.

But, for love, now you are talking!

Daily mass is a wonderful way for us to get to know our lord. If you are unable to attend i would recommend at least reading the mass readings for the day.

I will occasionally go to two masses on Sunday. Sometimes there is a shortage of people who help during the mass, and others of us fill in to help. I once was a lector twice in one day. Often it’s to help the Hospitality (ushers) crew. Several of us do it. If there were more volunteers we wouldn’t have to.

I try to never miss daily Mass. As someone who fell away from the Church for many years beginning in my early 20’s, I realize now there is no time better spent than in the sacrifice of the Holy Mass. That, along with Eucharistic adoration, puts us in the company of our Blessed Lord. Can there be any better place to be?
May the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary be praised adored now and forever.
