Just curious, please no bashing anyone if they do or dont, I just want to know if

A) you do it on a regular basis
B) only have done it in emergency or less than 3 times a year
C)Have never done it
D) Have never done it and get hopping mad when you see it
E) I cant remember and I dont go to Mass often enough to notice

Just pick one of the above.
A for me, nearly every week. I’m a self-employed decorative painter so my daily attire is shorts in the home office or painty overalls on a job site…so, clean jeans and a knit top with no paint on it is QUITE dressy for me. 🙂

thechrismyster :
you are in the presence of your Lord at all times. He is with you always, not just at Mass

This is true. However I generally do not have a consecrated host or a tabernacle with me at all times.😃

In honor of this thread, I do believe I will wear a skirt tomorrow morning. 🙂
So, this thread is revived. I used to wear jeans all the time, but since this post on 9/23/06 I’ve only worn them once. All the rest of the days I’ve worn a skirt or dress, and it just feels so right.

I wear jeans to Mass occasionally, more often at a daily Mass or a Sunday Vigil Mass. If I am EMHC, I always dress up. Even when I am not EMHC, I prefer to wear khakis rather than jeans.

C) mainly because I hate jeans, I have worn shorts before, but only when I was younger or was about to embark on a trip or for daily mass. Other than that, Slacks, button up shirt, and a tie. 👍

There’s a literal dress code in heaven? If so there’s no way Francis of Assisi is up there, nor John the Baptist :nope: Neither of them dressed up for nobody.
If you think about it for a minute-

Why does the priest dress up for Mass? Why doesn’t he wear jeans? Is it because of the “dress code” found in the Old Testament?

Maybe not in heaven, but maybe St.Francis of Assisi wore his “wedding clothes” to mass? Maybe?🤷

And there wasn’t a Mass to attend for St. John the Baptist, was there?🤷

The priest has a specific role and function when he is celebrating Mass, so yes he wears priestly robes to fulfil that function. Like a judge does, or a

I wear jeans all the time except funerals and weddings when I wear the suit.🙂

On occasion I’ve worn jeans to church. I’m not there for a fashion show.

Sometimes.I usually just wear normal clothes to Mass.If I happen to be wearing jeans that day, yes, I wear them to Mass.I don’t bother much about clothes as long as they are modest and comfortable.🤷

Greetings,

I wear jeans everywhere else, except Mass. For Mass (because I’m in the presence of the Eucharistic Christ) I go formal: dress shoes, socks, pants, shirt, tie, and a modest looking jacket.

Rocco

I chose “B” - only in emergencies/last minute events like if I’m traveling or decide to stop in at mass while out and about. Although, since I cantor at almost every Sunday mass I attend, I haven’t worn a pair of jeans at mass for a few years now.

The only time I wore jeans to mass was when we had 10 o’clock mass at primary school on Monday morning. As an adult during my years in the Royal Navy, we wore our best uniforms. I own 5 suits and I always wear one on a Sunday. I believe if we own smart clothing we should dress our best before God. We wouldn’t wear jeans if we’re going to Buckingham Palace. However if jeans is all we have, then I see no reasons to wear them, but definitely not shorts.

i’ve worn jeans in Buckingham Palace. twice.

and in the White House. I’ve met Clinton once. Bush twice.

Jeans everytime. I kid you not.

Years ago, I used to wear jeans all the time, including mass.

Since I started cantoring and leading the music at mass, I always wear dresses, skirts, or dress pants. no jeans anymore to mass.

Our priest recently passed out ‘guidlelines/ dress code’ for all the ministries. EMHC, lectors, ushers, choir, etc.

DRESS CODE FOR ALL MINISTERS:
“**Sunday best. NO Jeans, No sleeveless shirts or thin straps. No short skirts. NO sneakers or any attire that calls attention to you rather than the mass and our Lord.”
**
I feel like I call more attention to myself when I wear my ‘Sunday best’. When I wear jeans, I blend in.

I do, especially in the winter. I try to wear a nice sweater or jacket with my jeans, and they are nice ones, not holey or frayed.

In the summer, it’s too hot to wear jeans, so I often wear a denim skirt 😉

Neither. The clothes are chosen to conform to what society and church leaderships expects.
That IS for you - so you feel comfortable by conforming to others.

By the way ‘society’ and ‘church leadership’ in general would in practice hardly raise an eyebrow at most anything you chose to wear, give or take a few individuals. And from what I’ve seen of what people wear at the Pope’s Masses he’s not really one of 'em.

A nun told my daughter last year…God doesn’t care what you look like on the outside…he cares what your soul looks like.:yup:
