Do you wear jeans to Mass?

I believe if we own smart clothing we should dress our best before God.
My mother-in-law has said this to me (she’s a very sharp dresser for mass :)), but I’ve never felt comfortable dressing up for mass because it personally feels like I’m not being ‘real’ with Jesus, like I’m mascarading as someone I’m not and that doesn’t sit well with me.

A nun told my daughter last year…God doesn’t care what you look like on the outside…he cares what your soul looks like.:yup:
So, if you attend a formal dinner you dress in jeans? Did you wear jeans to your wedding? If thats all you have, ok. I don't dress for the congregation, I dress for my Lord and God, inside and out. I believe my Lord should get my best. ;)

I am unemployed right now, but when I was working, I would go to Holy Day Masses wearing my work uniform. After pulling a 10 hour shift 7 a.m.-5 p.m., I think God just wanted me there at Mass irregardless of how I was dressed. Changing clothes would have meant missing Mass (it was 7:00p.m.)., and it took me about an hour to get to church after work. I think it was better that I was there in a work uniform than not there at all.

As I said, if that is all you have, ok. What I said, if you are able to dress-up, why wouldn't you? I've been in Mass in fatigues, no choice, but I can dress for my Lord now & I will.:)

So she should wear her wedding dress every Sunday? That’s almost certainly her best dress (most women don’t have anything else nearly as nice or expensive)

Don’t be facetious.🙂
I’m not. I’m pointing out the inconsistency, which is that if you believe God should get everyone’s best, then for most married women that literally DOES mean their wedding dress, which IS their best and most valuable piece of clothing.

Me, I’m not married, but I have a nice floor-length satin number that I bought for a formal shindig a few years ago.

If you don’t believe that they should wear their wedding dresses every Sunday, or I my ballgown then you’re saying God doesn’t always need their (or my) best. Which is it?

Wow. Twenty-five pages for a non-issue.

I wore blue jeans to Mass this morning. If you saw me and my jeans bugged you, I earnestly suggest you spend more time examining your conscience and less time criticizing my attire.

I often do when I go to daily Mass, since that is my normal work attire and if I take the tine to change also, I wouldn’t be able to make it to Mass. On Sundays, no. I do try to bring my best to Mass, but I also think of religious who may only have 1 or 2 habits and they wear them all the time–both to do chores and to attend chapel.
