jeans all the time, except summer, jean shorts with a button down shirt.

When I’m not wearing shorts, I’m wearing jeans, so A) it is for me 😃

As counter-weight, however, I wear a Miraculous Medal and Brown Scapular every day!

Peace and God bless!

B).

It wouldn’t stop me going to mass, but I always try and make an effort for mass!
I went to mass on Tuesday evening in jeans, I had a Parish Council meeting afterwards and had just got in from the office.

I went in Tennis Shoes last Sunday, first time ever! I’ll work on the jeans. I think it is a good thing, but it is hard to break training. The boobs practically hanging out and skirts so short - I do not care for.

No I wear khaki’s and a collared shirt, and suits on Christmas and Easter.

Less than three times a year personally. II recently wore them because we had a birthday party to go to right after Mass. I felt a little weird because I usually don’t but I did not think that the Lord would be upset with me. I don’t personally have a problem with it but I try to give the Lord my best, including my appearance. My husband does all the time or sweats (he plays football right after Mass). I try to have my son (2 years) in something a little more “churchy” but when nothing else is clean he wears them.

in the fall & winter yes i do wear jeans to Mass…
other times of the year I wear khakis

B) Only once that I remember since I got out of college. I was coming home from a camping trip, got caught in a traffic jam and would have missed the last Mass if I had gone home first to change.

I try to remember incident that when I see others in jeans at Mass but I won’t let my kids wear them and I teach my CCE students that they need to give thought to reverent dress when they come before the Blessed Sacrament. 😉

My situation is choice A, with the exception of weddings, funerals, Christmas and Easter. 🙂

I just realized I should have been clear at the start that the Jeans in question are not wacko jeans, but clean and in good condition.

I just got a call from my spouse and was reminded of the type with safty pins in them and bleach splotches (the kind you pay 20 bucks more for to look like they have been through WW2)

I just assumed everyone knew I meant good condition. 😃

I think we need to keep in mind what we are attending. We are in Mass to worship God and receive His Presence. Lets say you were going to have an audience with the President in front of the whole country on television. Would you wear shorts and a t-shirt? No? If not, why would you feel comfortable going in front of God himself dressed this way? Do you think the viewers on TV would find it distracting and distasteful for you to show up for an audience dressed like you were going to the park? Now what about your fellow parishioners? Is it acceptable to distract and offend them with sloppy, overly casual dress? Or what if you brought your family and your daughter was wearing her cheerleading uniform (which I have seen in Mass many times). Do you think that would be appropriate?

Now certainly the Lord knows that not everyone can afford good clothes. I try to remember this myself. We should be charitable when we see someone in stained jeans and a “KISS” t-shirt attending Mass, because that may be the best cloths they have, and that’s fine. But I think we all need to think twice about our own situation and decide whether we are showing proper respect to God and the other parishioners.

Would you call that a C minus? I mean somewhere between C and D?

I wear jeans most of the time unless I’m one of the lectors.

If not to bash anyone then why ask the question?

I am curious to know why someone would ask this question.

Somewhere between A and B for me…

I usually try to wear a skirt (jean skirt, casual, etc)… but in the winter I tend to wear jeans more often…

Damascus:

On your scale I’d say I’m at B. If you combine a good pair of jeans with a blazer it would be fairly respectful.

I try to stay focused on the reason I’m at mass and am grateful when I see whole families, teens or young adults choosing to make the time and effort to attend mass–no matter their garb. That said–I never wear jeans nor allow my kids to attend mass in jeans, shorts, soccer uniforms or the like unless there is no option but missing mass or we are vacationing somewhere rustic and remote where jeans are the norm. I believe that the extra effort to dress up a little is well worth it.

Oh my. Not at all.

The point of me asking is that it seems to me that there are a lot of Anti-Catholic websites (so called Catholics that are in schism) that say the “problem” with Vatican 2 has led to people wearing jeans and being irreverent and those same people dont even know their faith or they would not be doing such a sacriledge.

I disagree. Some of the most devout people I have seen wear jeans.

No ill intent on my part to ask.
