If you live in Canada, the CBC will air the Passionate Eye’s documentary called “Holy Money” exposing the Vatican’s troubling financial scandal. Here is the trailer: cbc.ca/passionateeye/episodes/holy-money
The case in Milwaukee with its $55 million coverup is a good case in point. But it only goes to show that funds can’t be protected, try as much as they want.
And also the Archdioceses of Minneapolis and Chicago where now “public nuisance” charges have been filed.
The CBC is very good, well-respected, with ace reporters.
Let us know how the doc is after you see it?
I think Pope Francis said that one of his goals as pope was to clean up the financial problems there, yes? He let go of several people in the financial sector there, as I recall.
Welllll I wouldn’t go that far. The CBC did give us Jian Gomeshi after all, and even may have covered up sexual harassment reports. It’s also notoriously slanted towards the left. I like the CBC, I grew up listening to CBC radio, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to engage in some mud slinging. Then again, just reporting the facts might, unfortunately, be enough to accomplish their intended goal.
I wouldn’t expect too much of reforms unless he were to change the entire financial structure of the Church. This “exposure” and “cleaning” has been going on (and documented) since the 60’s if not before. Don’t forget, he’s been a cleric himself since 1969 and I’m sure he’s aware of the situation.
