Does Amazon still support Planned Parenthood?

I want to buy some books, but I think awhile back there was a thread about Amazon supporting Planned Parenthood.

The books I want to get are in Spanish and I’m sending them out as gifts to a relative. I checked barnes & Nobles and Powell’s. The books are more expensive there, but I’d rather pay more than support Amazon if they give to PP. I’ll be sure to let Amazon know my thoughts if that is the case.

It’s getting hectic keeping up with corporate doings.

I don’t know but Bill Gates foundation supports it heck his dad was the head of the foundation. Over the years, Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett have given tens of millions of dollars to various groups that perform abortions, push for and/or proselytize for abortion abroad and here in America. For details you can visit the Web pages of the American Life League, the Population Research Institute and Human Life International.

On May 9, 2003, Bill Moyers had an in-depth discussion with Bill Gates on Public TV. During the course of the show Gates had the following comments related to Planned Parenthood.

Moyers: But did you come to reproductive issues as an intellectual, philosophical pursuit? Or was there something that happened? Did come upon… was there a revelation?

BILL GATES says his Dad (left) ‘head of Planned Parenthood’ when he was growing up.Gates: When I was growing up, my parents were almost involved in various volunteer things. My dad was head of Planned Parenthood. And it was very controversial to be involved with that. And so it’s fascinating. At the dinner table my parents are very good at sharing the things that they were doing. And almost treating us like adults, talking about that. My mom was on the United Way group that decides how to allocate the money and looks at all the different charities and makes the very hard decisions about where that pool of funds is going to go. So I always knew there was something about really educating people and giving them choices in terms of family size.

When I put the word “abortion” into the search engine on the Web page of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, it turned up two references, one of which I could not get. The reference I could get was to an April, 2000, $8 Million Grant to “Family Care International” to “Improve Women’s Health.” It says that among the things “FCI” is addressing around the world is “unsafe abortion.” Unsafe abortion?! That’s right. “FCI” is trying to make abortion “safe.” But “safe” for whom? Certainly not the unborn baby who is murdered by abortion.

The point is its almost impossible to be in the business world without using some Microsoft product and a lot that money goes to destroying unborn life. We almost don’t have a choice in it.
How far we do we go the avoid giving our dollars to such things is a good question but if you look at any catholic parish or school they usually have a WIndows OS and MS Office so its not like the church goes out of its way to not give money to Bill Gates. If the church doesn’t avoid business with such persons why should we? Its a difficult moral dilemna also heck almost everything you buy in the store nowadays is made from China that’s a country that by law forces you to do abortions but yet again how many things are made in China in your parish or catholic school probably a ton of things.

Amazon.com does or did have an affiliate partner program with at least one chapter of Planned Parenthood chapter. If you go to the bookstore webpage of that chapter and click on the Amazon.com link, you will get taken to this page: amazon.com/?&tag=plaparhudpeci-20&camp=211041&creative=374005&linkCode=qs1&adid=1QEMKA1ZTH6CPX1H27ZV&
which looks like any Amazon.com homepage. But a small portion of the revenue will be kicked back to the Hudson Peconic chapter of Planned Parenthood.

That said, the bookstore webpage doesn’t appear to be well maintained. Its HTML code is messed up. I think it may be an abandoned page. There appears to be no link to the bookstore page on the homepage of the Hudson Peconic chapter - a person has to do an independent web search to find that bookstore page. So, the relationship between Amazon.com and the HP chapter of Planned Parenthood doesn’t seem to be very close at this point.

I’ll still continue to buy the majority of my books and videos at Amazon for the savings. They are lower in price, do not charge shipping on most orders, and don’t charge sales tax. That’s good enough for me.

Boycotting Amazon because of any real or obsolete connection with Planned Parenthood is like those pro-choicers who boycotted Domino’s Pizza because the founder of that company supported anti-abortion causes. Pointless, in other words.
