To Arms!!

Lets Rally around the SACRED AND IMMACULATE HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY!!

Catholics are tough stuff!!

Come on people, we’ve weathered everything secularism could throw at us. This (scoffs) is nothing. I haven’t come this far just to get chickened out by what the worlds got. Bring it on. Turmoil? BRING IT ON. My Mother wears Combat boots!!

satan, you don’t have 1 chance. you sir, are history!!

VIVA CRISTO REY!!

VIVA LE PAPA!!!
What do you mean when you say “To Arms”? It would be helpful to all of us here to have a clarification. Otherwise, I and perhaps others, would conclude it to be a call to violence. Which would go against Christ’s message and non-negotiable dictate to us.

Padre Pio called the Rosary ‘my weapon’, and would ask people to ‘fetch me my weapon’ when he wanted them to fetch his rosary. Meaning, of course, his defence against evil.

From the context it looks like ‘arms’ is being used in the same sense. We should not be so quick to take offence - does scripture itself not refer to ‘putting in the armour of God’ and doing battle (in a purely spiritual sense of course) with the forces of evil?

I understand a bit better now. Please forgive me. I wasn’t aware of your personal sufferings. If you will allow, I will pray for you and I ask your prayers for me. And, let’s both continue trusting God.
Oh please forgive me! That wasn’t directed at you. I am so sorry, I was just expressing the diametricallly opposing forces of believing and struggling at the same time, and how challenging it is to reconcile the two. It is just weird and difficult. Admittedly, yes, especially now with my issues. I really do believe in good outcomes, whether we have the ability to see or understand them or not. But sometimes you just want a little human comfort despite having the hope. I would give much to have a genuine, charitable, God loving friend with me through this, physically there for me, to have a hand on my shoulder and a hug or two and I do not. This makes everything all the more challenging and more to reconcile. Too much…
I shall pray for you.
Thank you
Many blessings

I meant the Rosary and the Crucifix. These are true weapons against satan. Guarenteed!!

I obviously didn’t mean guns, what good would that do??

Yes, there are some “things” I find troubling right now, but I also believe in what Jesus said (This is my Church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it…). One thing particularly though that is troubling me is the immorality.
  1. Pornography
  2. Senseless murders (mainly by younger people)
  3. Recreational drug abuse
All of these are scary because 1. they are immoral and 2. the younger generations are accepting them more.

very true.

is this another merged thread?! How did it get from tough times to doo doo??!!

how is that this thread is ‘tough times’ **and **“deep doo doo”?
Another merge? Sorry, had to ask…

Pope Benedict’s resignation is now going to set a precedent for future Popes, who will now face mounting pressure to step down as they get older and there health declines.

People have been saying this for a long time, but its different now for some reason. The USA is changing. We are headed somewhere bad. I think God is telling us that we’re going to require a different kind of Pope for what lies ahead in the world.
The Pope has always had a mass audience … so its unlikely there is some sort of “special connection” between the Pope and a individual in the mass audience.

Tough times ahead? Jobs are scarce, money is tight and many of us have a hard time making the rent.

If tough times are AHEAD, we’re all in deep you-know-what.

I cant say that I feel as though whatever times ahead are going to be any tougher than any other aspect of human history.

All of human history is fraught with struggle, strife, tribulations. I dont see us as being any different

The decline of the Roman Empire. The Dark Ages. The bubonic plague. The excesses of the Reformation. The French Revolution. The Russian Revolution. The Cultural Revolution. Bloody wars. Heartless persecutions. The Nazis and the Holocaust. Stalin. The Cold War. The sex abuse scandals. Just a few issues off the top of my head.

Yep, we’re going to hell in a hand basket just as the Romans, Russians, French, British, Germans, the Japanese, the Chinese, and just about every people on Earth including Canadians and the USA.

Certainly if one reads St. Paul, one should conclude there’s nothing new under the sun. It’s why we needed a Redeemer. It’s why we’ll continue to need Him until the sun becomes a supernova and consumes the Earth, if humanity lasts that long.

Place your trust and your faith in the hands of God, and don’t worry.
You give some good examples. Most people alive today, at least in the U.S., have not directly experienced such things. The second world war was bloody with massive killing, but except for instances like Pearl Harbor, it did not touch our nation directly. The French Revolution entailed mindless violence against the Church and its members. The Cold War was scary but we had a deterrent which prevented attack, a deterrent which is now much smaller. No one alive today has lived through the fall of a civilization. And our civilization now is beginning to look more like Rome before the fall. Most people have experienced economic setbacks, but not a major economic depression, or concentrated persecution. And we could experience a new dark age. There have been secular authors predicting as much.

Yes, the Church will survive. It has survived persecution and the fall of civilizations before. That doesn’t mean such things are pleasant for those living through them. Nor does it mean we have no responsibility to try to reverse current trends. And I agree, prayer and sacrifice is needed. It’s just that most of us, including me, have had things so easy for so long that we will be unprepared for any true disaster.

Yes, tough times are ahead. Each and every one of us will one day face:

Death

Judgement

Heaven or

Hell.

Rich, Poor, Wartime, Peace, Family struggles, degenerate societies, …it’s all in how we respond.

It should be expected always that there will be tough times. The key is are we changing hearts, opening eyes, helping people see the fullness of Truth.

You have thousands upon thousands of people that can look back at the choices of their parents and see the misery their parents are in with regard to the false god of progressive-ism.

These people can see clearly their parents are not at peace with the ‘choices’ they made. Nor did those choices move their parents to some kind of enlightenment.

Times are always going to be tough, are we preparing ourselves to answer “yes” when asked if we are ready to die because of what we believe.

Unfortunately times do look dark head for us. I do believe that people have lost their trust, faith and knowledge of God. They see things as normal now. Drugs, pornography, violence, having kids all over the place with different partners, disrespect to elders, forgetting their families.

I do believe that we must be in constant prayers and pray for those who have forgotten about God, that the Holy Spirit touches their heart.

Prayer is the best weapon for the world.

Count me in for prayers for the world and our salvation

I lived through a period of time where American society was closer to God. I lived through the Cold War - ICBMs from Russia any day now. And you know what?

There was no legal abortion.

Divorce was rare.

Children respected their parents.

There was dating and a clear-headed commitment to one life-long partner.

The new opium dens - ADULT BOOKSTORES, STRIP CLUBS AND TOPLESS BARS - did not exist.

There was appropriate restraint in word and actions. There was self control, especially regarding sex.

The bulk of our problems revolve around the misuse of sex and being brainwashed into believing -

A) Being a mother and father are too hard.

B) Kids are a nuisance. An inconvenience. And as long as I throw food and clothes at them, once they turn 18, who cares?

We had real families that loved each other. We had parents that loved each other. Ignorant children were taught the rules and the rules were enforced. You loved your child when you disciplined him, and if you child was in the wrong, there was an explanation but NO talking back.

We took commitment seriously.

NO, it was not perfect but it worked, until the strangers came around and yelled at us whenever we pointed out that shacking up with your girlfriend was wrong. That using illegal drugs - especially smoking dope - was wrong. But THEY kept telling us WE were wrong. That their way was the “better” way. They had - a false - Freedom!!!

And there were no debates about right and wrong.

Progressive? I spit on the ground whenever I hear that word. Sexually deviant perversion and dope? That’s progress? Broken homes? Kids who get their morals from other kids or the TV? This is better? This is modern?

The PROGRESSIVES lied at all times. We need to realize that. They lied about abortion, they lied about artificial contraception and they lied about sexual perversion. Now, they want all that stuff to be legal. For what? COUNT ME OUT.

Wake up, my fellow Christian soldiers. This is not a time to worry, but a great opportunity to be the salt of the earth, to remove the candle from under the bushel and let the light of the truth be known. Do we really NEED three TVs in every home? Do we really need the latest electronic gadget or a TV with a 52 inch screen?

God knows I’m not perfect, but our lack of perfection should not stop us from trying to do something as opposed to waiting for something vague. God is in this with us. We are not alone and not without help.

Peace,
Ed

Ring ring… This is humility calling. Are you there? Oh, good. Just wanted to say that God is in charge (not you or me). Don’t worry because He loves you. Even when things are scary and inexplicably hard - just trust. 🙂 :signofcross:
