I guess I should be offended, but that is funny to me for some reason. I am sorry but I just can’t take you serious. Do you really believe these things or are you laughing as you write them? Either way, you are amusing. Keep it up! 👍
I think that it’s funny. But I also think that it’s serious. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. I like to use strong words in punctual ways to make serious points, that’s all. That’s not for everybody. I don’t care. You’re not a “wus” are you…?

I think that the Bible says that we will see many people reverting back to the ways of depraved savages ( …“as in the times of Noah” ) in the end times, and that we should use our common sence to see that in the signs of the times. I honestly believe that the propensity on tatoos and body piercings that we see in young people today is a sign of that, and yes I do believe it. And YOU… probably don’t want to believe it.

Maso,

Truth or not, we are commanded by Christ not to judge others. You have placed judgments of “savages” on each and every person that chooses to get tattoos and piercings.

I will pray for you.
We are commanded by Christ to observe the signs of the times.

Go see: Matthew 24 : 37, but read it from 24 : 3 for it’s context.

Oh, wow now I take you serious. I now see the error of my ways. You are just like John the Baptist, out in the wilderness, aren’t you?

I still think your goofy.😃

Well… I’m “Goofy” enough not to have any Grafitti on my body anyway…

That’s wonderfull…

Now go see about some Laser Tattoo Removal treatment.

Here’s a link: http://www.drtattoff.com/
sarcasm, crazy man. I am done talking to you now. I do not want to take up anymore space on this thread since we are off topic.

You should start your own thread about how you do not like tattoos.

I’m getting a tattoo of a Crucifix soon. I don’t see anything wrong with body art. For goodness sakes, we decorate the church right? People just need to consider whether that art is appropriate or not.
Yes, no resurrectifixes! 😉

Also, make sure to get your tattoo design approved by the Diocesan Environment & Art Committee before proceeding. 😃

I can just see you on Judgement day…

Dialogue:

God: Who are you…?

kennewickmike: I’m kennewickmike, don’cha know me…?

God: "kennewickmike…!? You don’t look like “kennewickmike”… You look like one of those savages in Borneo that I allowed to go extinct because they wouldn’t evolve.

kennewickmike: …not me… I got tattoos.

God: What do you need tattoos for…? If you really needed that, don’cha think I would have given you them myself…???

kennewickmike: Well, I wasn’t getting enough attention from my friends, so I needed a device to draw attention to myself and that’s why I got tattoos…see…??? I crave attention.

God: Oh… I see… so your friends fussed over you for a short time and now the novelty has worn off, huh…? Why didn’t you take Maso’s advice and go see Dr. Tattoff and have some of his laser removal treatment.

kennewickmike: Well, I didn’t have enough money for that. and besides, I was waiting for Obama’s socialozed medacine program to pick it up, but those mean Republicans blocked it in the congress.

God: Oh… well… I don’t know about that, Obama wants us all to revert back to Paliolythic tribal times, like in the rest of the third world… savages, everywhere. I told you this would happen in Matthew 24:37.

kennewickmike: Oh…! is that what Maso was telling me in that forum…?

God: Yeah…

Wow. Interesting how you can profess to know what God will say or do. Must be pretty cool… especially since you’re only a “drifter.” 🤷

I would not take this guy serious. Crazy people are always the last to know they are crazy. Just look at what he is posting. It is silly/crazy talk.

Because it’s stupid and untrue. If you think you have the right to label people as “savages” and consider something as trivial as to how people want to look as a sign of the “end times” then I don’t want to know your beliefs on other things. (And when I say ‘people’, I am also including the tribal people you listed who would have retained their cultural heritage if they weren’t destroyed by the arrogant European colonizers who also had your holier-than-thou, “civilized” mentality).

Then again, not like you’ll care since this is the second time I’ve told you this.

P.S.

In case you didn’t know, the same people with your type of thinking nowadays also happen to be the same type of people who are paranoid about everything else. You know, the ones who like to go about screaming this or that is “of the deviiiil!!”?

I finally got my first tattoo last week, and had my second one done yesterday. I used to think like some people here–tattoos are bad, that they disfigure you, etc. But I did some research and reflection about what the Bible says regarding having tattoos, and came to the conclusion that people who are against it doesn’t know the Bible is actually saying. First, the Bible is against those who put tattoos as something of a magical charm; in those days, tattoos were connected with pagan rituals. I don’t think most people nowadays get tattoos to have some ritualistic meaning to it. Additionally, in those days tattooing not only meant having ink one’s body, but actually having the design first carved onto one’s body before the ink is placed (hence it would then fall into mutilation). Tattoos nowadays are done with the smallest amount of damage on the skin (ehich heals rather quickly), and not even deep enough to produce a scar (of your tattoo artist does it right). So on those two counts having tattoos today would not generally violate the Bible. There are those here who are also against body piercing of some sort; does that include earrings then? Women do have earrings, after all, and it is the most common body piercing. Men in Biblical times had earrings as well. Knowing what the Bible actually says as opposed to what one thinks it says makes a lot of difference.

You bring up some good food for thought when looking at any of the proscriptions in the Old Testament. The Pentateuch gave us many unchangeable moral laws (like the Ten Commandments), but it also gives us all the Levitic and Deuteronomic laws, many of which are for a specific purpose (such as the dietary laws). With the coming of Christ, many of those laws expired.

I have a tattoo. It’s a rose with a rose bud. I got it after my mom passed away. I was very close to Mom and the pic of a rose with a bud reminded me of mother and child. Then one day the thought came to me that it could also be of me and my son. This made it full circle.

Tattoos can be meaningful and thoughtful reminders and a way to keep memories alive.

I am, by no means, a “magical charm.” 😃 Although, I am sometimes charming! hehehe

In my family on my mom’s side (and we’re ALL Catholic) a baby girl almost immediately gets her ears pierced. It’s almost right after the baptism! LOL.

I think this guy is Catholic, although I’m not saying this is a Catholic website:

I never thought I would be the sort of person to get a tat. Not for religious reasons, but growing up I was really snobby and saw it as chavvy (don’t know if this means anything to non-British readers, think the closest would be ill-educated/trashy). FWIW, I think that a lot of people around in churches do have this kind of objection, i.e. they see tattoos as ‘lower-class’ and ear piercings etc. as acceptable not because they have read and formed a balanced, nuanced judgement on the scriptures, but just because of their own cultural sensibilities which they may or may not then try to justify on religious grounds.

After all that, once I got over being such an arrogant and judgemental teenager, I got a tattoo 2 years ago and I love it! It’s ‘you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your body and all your might’ in Hebrew. DH has the matching ‘you shall love your neighbour as yourself’. I really want another one but there are so many Bible verses I would love to have, I can’t decide between them!

Maso, why don’t you go start a thread where you can talk all about the evils of tattooing? This isn’t the thread for that, and I really don’t want to hear any more about how people with tattoos are heathens and signs of the end times. Anyone can pull a scripture passage to justify his or her belief and use it to pass unreasonable judgment on other people. If Christ comes back today, there is not a doubt in my mind and heart that he would love me just as much with my tattoos as he would without them. I really wish more time was spent in trying to emulate Jesus and his teachings and less time telling everyone else why He wouldn’t like them. As I recall from the gospels, Jesus didn’t spend a lot of time going around telling people “You look funny, I don’t like you now.” I really don’t get the lack of love and compassion so often shown in His name, and it frankly breaks my heart.

This is precisely what I was looking for. Thanks for posting your tattoos (or depictions thereof). I read about all this great body art yet can’t see any of it. Anyone else care to post theirs? I have an ulterior motive - I’m looking for ideas for myself, hoping something I see will give me some inspiration. Thanks.
