Does anyone here, that believes in God, actually think that God accepts gay marriage?

but ours is just one holy book of many, I am sure even amongst followers of our book there are those who interpret the levitical codes against homosexuality on the same level as the prscriptions against ingesting shellfish
Homosexuality is not the same as eating shellfish. Someone needs to learn a bit more about the Catholic Faith if they think the Catholic faith is just one of many ways to God, or the Holy Bible is just one of many holy books, or homosexuality is on the same moral level as eating shellfish:shrug:

I am skeptical of anyone who claims to know the “mind” or “opinion” of God.

We have the teaching of the Magisterium.
By the Magisterium we mean the teaching office of the Church. It consists of the Pope and Bishops. Christ promised to protect the teaching of the Church.
A “theologian” who would claim he needs to be able to ignore the Magisterium in order to find the truth is strangely perverse: the teaching of the Magisterium is the prime, God-given means of finding the truth.

I don’t believe ours is just another Holy book of many.

Read. More. Carefully. I said certain faith traditions may espouse such n interpretation, not ours. And the bible is just another of mans holy books to the unbiased observer. Our faith dictates we accept it as the word of god just as other faiths dictate that their book is the word of god

I think there are two issues. There is matrimony, which is a sacrament of the Church and there is marriage, which is a legal institution. The govt regulates marriage…but the Church follows what they believe and teach are the directives of Jesus Christ.

So…I support gay marriage. Matrimony is in the hands of the Church who is to receive that sacrament.

No one believes that their holy book is just one of many. That’s why they are called holy books

OK, you start3ed this thing, so name for us, one Holy Book that espouses or defends homosexual behavior!

The bible. There are sects of Christianity which accept gay marriage and disregard the levitical prohibitions just as we disregard the prohibitions against shell fish

I most certainly believe in God and I do not presume to guess at what he does or does not accept when it comes to marriage. I do know that he left us ten commandants and a golden rule to treat others as we would like to be treated. I know that there are seven deadly sins but I do not think any of them pertain to the love of one person for another. I would leave God’s judgement to God and try to be as understanding as I can of those who would like to burden other people with their personal intolerance’s. No one is trying to make you marry someone you do not love. If you do not accept same gender marriage do not marry someone of the same gender. It really is none of your business.
AMEN! Happiness and love are hard to find these days, and if someone happens to find it with a person of the same sex, then so be it. I am seriously beginning to doubt that, despite being a baptized Catholic, I’m really a Catholic. How can I be if I don’t disapprove of gay marriage?!?!

As far as I’m concerned no orthodox Christian would believe in or support so called “gay marriage”.God did not ordain such a thing, and the Church he established doesn’t have the authority to change or altar that. And just because this warped society we live in wants to support unholy unions does not make it a true marriage ,marriage is what God created it to be ,between one man and one woman.

Says? God?
Yes! 1Timothy 3:15

“15 if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.”

The Catholic Church condemns gay marriage because it is the pillar and foundation of the truth as stated in 1Timothy 3:15. God is truth

That may be, but there are also sects that use snakes in their worship. However, all of these groups are bending the words of the Bible to their own ends. It does not mean that it is true or right.
Homosexual behavior is condemned in several places in both the Old and New Testaments; and, in biblical times, the punishment for homosexual behavior amongst the Jews was death by stoning.
Homosexual behavior is also forbidden in the Koran, as it is in both Buddhist and Hindu texts. Any pro homosexual interpretation of these texts is a modern aberration found only in Western Europe and America in an attempt to sway public opinion to not just tolerate such behavior, but promote full social acceptance of it.
Any Catholic who falls for such nonsense, is just kidding him/her self and is putting their soul in harms way.
Homosexuality is not an inherited state, it is conditioned behavior…granted, its causes is rather complex, but homosexual acts remain ultimately selfish acts and thus evil in their very nature because they defy natural law.

Why did you start a thread specifically seeking an argument? I mean really, you posted a thread that lacked any substance, it was just a challenge to other Catholics to debate with you. Aren’t there enough contentious threads on this site without trying to instigate another?
Why?

Because, as Pope Francis has said, we are obsessed with homosexuality and prefer to focus on it rather than on our duty to the poor and marginalized.

If you can’t accept the simple fact that God has long made His wishes known through mankind as well as directly, then there’s not much that you’ll ever believe.

The Church, Tradition of the Catholic Church, the Bible, early Church Fathers, reason, logic, history, ALL say that “gay marriage” is not real.

I find it rather amusing and telling that you think you’ve stumbled onto some great, shattering truth about holy texts when minds greater than both of hours have already looked at these questions over the past 2000+ years, right up to the present day, and all disagree with you. 🤷

Let’s hear your credentials; why should we listen to you over 2000+ years of solid agreement on the matter? What earth-shattering wisdom have you brought to the fore to correct billions of people on the planet? Hmm?

Why?

Who’s focusing now? Anyone can twist the Pope’s words and use them to drive their own agenda, as you’ve just now demonstrated.

I don’t think you’re alone. Polls show that over 50 percent of Catholics support gay marriage, though of course I’m sure that’s just anyone who identifies as Catholic, whether they regularly attend Mass or not. My husband is a Catholic convert and he supports gay marriage. I’m personally neutral on the issue from a civil sense but I don’t think churches should ever be forced to do it.
