Does anyone know who owns Black Lives Matter?

I am pretty sure that as the a "middle man " ActBlue gets a percentage for their organization [salaries and overhead] as it goes from the donor through to the actual beneficiary who then also has salaries and overhead … so not I would not have any comfort that whatever god work I intended my donation to accomplish would actually receive an appropriate amount.

For example when I donate to the jog-a-thon at my grandkids parish school - I know that 100% of the funds actually go to support the achool. I even know exactly to what goals the money is allocated. When I do a paddle board bid at the annual school auction for the school endowment fund - 100% of the finds go to the endowment. Ditto the donation I make to the inner city Catholic school that provides free tuition to inner city students regardless of race or creed [most are African American and non Catholic] - 100% of the donations go to the school to provide a FREE education.

Another Charity I donate to helps to move homeless individuals and families from the streets into permanent housing - that one is bout 94% . Ditto the homes for unwed mothers that I donate to.

Good question. I haven’t delved into this topic but I have seen the BLM UK branch/chapter’s GoFund page (that was set up just a few days ago and is already closing in on $1 million) and they have a ‘how the money will be spent’ section, that I will copy here.

I don’t want to link to the page because I will feel like I would be promoting it and that is something I don’t want to do.
Work towards making change at the level of law.

Developing and distributing educational resources.

Developing and delivering healing practices in black communities.

Developing and delivering training, police monitoring and strategies for the abolition of police. Working alongside existing anti-racist organisations to strengthen the wider movement across the UK.

Supporting the United Family & Friends Campaign (UFFC) in accessing justice for friends and loved ones killed at the hands of British police.

Providing emergency relief to black communities bearing the brunt of the Covid crisis.
Not much detail into what exactly they plan to do (reminds me a bit of the ‘Boniface Institute’ set up by the guy who threw the Pachamama statues into the river). Very vague. What are these ‘healing practices’ for instance?

OP, is there any possibility of seeking out a local organization that is dedicated to helping black people? E.g., a local black church?

Many of the black churches in our city have very active programs to help families stay together, and tutoring programs to help kids who are having trouble in school.

Also, many of the pastors of these churches have been around for decades and have a stellar record of service to the community and working with, not against, our local elected officials and the local police force.

Another possibility is to donate to a local private school that is in a “black” neighborhood and has a primarily black student body. There are at least two such schools in our city, and their record is pretty stellar.

Finally, donate to Figure Skating in Harlem. Check out this organization online–the results are amazing! There is a 99% high school graduation rate for young women who are involved with Figure Skating in Harlem, and most of these young ladies go on to graduate from college, too. This is an organization that exists right where poor blacks live, has been around for at least a few decades, and actually has a MEASURABLE success rate!

I have considered supporting our local black Catholic priest who has announced his intention, at the risk of incurring the wrath of his ultra liberal bishop who may well return him to war-torn Africa in revenge, of saying a motu proprio Traditional Latin Mass.

I’m not aware of anyone who is donating actual money to BLM. They use the words as a slogan and then make the money donations to the NAACP education fund or similar programs.

You’d probably think that person was hunting for a reason to disparage the organization.
I would think the person wants to become informed, take the example of food and goods, I would rather buy home manufactured goods and food then spend money to support foreign interests.

What do you think people who accuse the Church of being rich and hoarding resources they should sell for money for the poor are not already doing that, just skipping the question?

In 1911, Booker T. Washington wrote:
There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.

The Gateway Pundit has a history of fabricating stories like this. Is this claim corroborated by any reputable organization?

Of course it isn’t, because the claim is so deliberately deceptive that I am comfortable calling it an outright lie on the part of TGP.

Right or wrong, the GP article supported their content, including where ActBlue sends their donations
It does not.

ActBlue is a payment processor, like GoFundMe or Patreon. What your article does is equivalent to claiming that because the top 10 GoFundMe are democratic, that GoFundMe is sending all your money to the democrats no matter who you actually tried to support.

So where does BLM spend all their cash?

Kailee Scales, Managing Director for Black Lives Matter repeatedly refused to answer this question in a recent AMA she did on Reddit.

And thanks for responded to the content.

If I give money to the church for a purpose, I expect that money to be used for that purpose. That is why I am indignant that Peter’s Pence has been used to speculate on property in London.

I also want the investigations started by Cardinal Pell to be resumed, preferably with him in charge.

Regarding “hoarding of treasures” that’s a different situation. The faithful normally gave money for the specific purpose of ornamenting churches with works of art etc, , so it would be a betrayal of the donors wishes to sell those works even if in a good cause.

So I would have no problem with BLM spending money in any way they see fit provided they say in advance what they are going to do, as the Church should.

If ALL Black lives matter then what say they concerning the large percentage of Black babies being aborted or the 94% of Blacks being killed by other Blacks?

more than 50% of Black babies being aborted
Did you state this correctly? Are you saying that 50% of pregnancies are ending in abortion? Or that 50% of abortions are for black mothers?

More than 50% are ending in abortion, but I made slight changes to my post, i.e., I couldn’t recall the exact percentage.

The highest percentage I’ve seen quoted was 36%. But that is probably off topic for this thread. So I won’t say more about it after this msg.

From what I’ve read a major motivation for abortion for African-American women are socio-economic concerns. I don’t quite know how such concerns could be addressed. But it sounds like improving economic conditions might reduce abortions (and possibly address some other problems too).
