Does Church Militant represent a small % of Catholics?

And I for one am glad he continues to speak out. He may not be perfect, but he strikes me as honest. He also admits his personal struggle with his own sexual orientation and doesn’t immediately label anyone who disagrees with or dares to question him a heterophobe.

I have no idea what you mean by this? No where did I say that I have pains in my eyes.
pulled muscles can cause pain. 🤔
As far as I know, people do not relinquish their state of adulthood because they go to a Catholic University.
So, somehow these adult students, passed on a little bit of information regarding the book they were required to read in class, to their parents because it is true most parents don’t check up on the literature books their adult child is reading in college.

Perhaps some of the students found it disgusting also. We have no idea whether these students complained to the teacher or not, so we can’t argue that point. They very well may have. Somehow the word got out about the book.

God bless

Also, it was outraged parents who contacted CM.
Ahhh, helicopter parents. Except for the rare child prodigy, the students at University are adults.

If I were to go back to school, it would be ludicrous for my parents to call and complain to my university because I am an adult. And before it comes up, it is still unacceptable if the parents are paying the tuition, that is a choice they freely made, it does not mean their adult child suddenly becomes an infant.

That part of the story makes me almost pull a muscle my eyes rolled so far.
In general, I would agree with you.

However, in this particular situation, I don’t.

Reason: parents & students pay tuition to attend Franciscan University of Steubenville and other Catholic colleges on the Cardinal Newman Society’s list and/or the National Catholic Register’s college guide because they are expecting a devout Catholic education.

They are expecting to get what they are paying for.

If this was a secular college, or even a Land-o-Lakes college, then I would tend to agree with you.

However, again, these kids are attending Franciscan University of Steubenville because the students (or their parents) wanted to avoid the type of education received a secular colleges and even the Land-o-Lakes colleges.

So they have a right to be upset and concerned.

People may disagree with Franciscan University of Steubenville and never want to send their kids there; but they should understand how the parents feel.

Afterall, if a kid was attending super liberal Evergreen State College and they had a very conservative college professor trying to teach the kids things they disagreed with, I’m sure they would be doing far more than simply calling the administration and a media outlet.

God bless

I have no idea how much of Carrere’s book Scott Hahn or John Bergsma read, but I’m incredulous that either of them would simply knee-jerk react to news from CM or Lifesite.

From what I’ve read, this is not the first time this English professor has gotten into some hot water. So he has now been removed as the chair of the English department.

Because both Jesus and Thomas Merton would not have been OK with same sex marriage or letting a 5 year old boy decide he is going to be a girl. That kind of “social justice” is not be OK with Jesus.
That is a terrifically awful definition of social justice, one most people would disagree with — even liberals who prefer same-sex marriage and the latter know it includes more than this.

What do you think? Do you think Merton advocated for those views?

For starters, I’m talking about nonviolence and racism, two very basic social justice topics.

Heresy? As if. I think Church Militant is in the wrong, hence “bad.” Another reply said they at least had some good. Therefore I proceeded to comment what I did.

Context is key.

As for demons, yes, they participate in the goodness of God. For existence itself is a good. Evil is a lack of goodness and being.

How you got the denial of good vs. evil from that is beyond me.

I have not read the entire thread as it is so long but the bottom line is we must share the truth with love . CM unfortunately just tends to rant and seems to be a one man crusade of wanting to be generally controversial and doesn’t appear to think it’s a problem being uncharitable which he clearly is on a regular basis.

I also feel we should pray for Michael as he seems very unhappy and agitated. He is putting the blame outside himself, on various issues and factions within the church, but he lacks peace, the peace only Christ can give.

Church Militant and LifeSite News will continue to validate themselves as long as priests like Fr. Mark Goring are silenced while the likes of James Martin run around advocating issues contrary to Church teaching. Or when the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart are silenced but meanwhile the LGBT lobby continues to be invited into parishes, “catholic” colleges, etc.

have done similar research when attempting to make up my mind about Church Militant and have been unable to find adequate examples of this. Would you please point me to an example or two.
Here is one for starters. I’ll find more if I have the time.

Nah, don’t need to. One can easily predict what the Soros-bots at snopes will decide.

Conservative points are not debunked because they are based on truth, as opposed to liberal views based on emotion, fear, class warfare, and communism, among other things.
