Does Darwin's theory of evolution contradict Catholicsm?

Dinosaurs and other mammals were wiped out 66 million years against your claim “No, the birds, like crocodiles and numerous other mammals were not wiped out 65 million years ago.”
 
I am not agreeing to anything regarding ages and the dating methods involved.

Actually I created this thread because I wanted to know how to thwart my Atheist step-dad’s accusations regarding the creation story in Genesis.
 
Don’t argue with him. The Church does not teach that one must have a strict fundamentalist view of when God created the earth, sun, and moon, neither should you teach that one must believe in a strict fundamentalist view of how the earth came into existence.

Instead, let him see through your actions the truth of God’s existence.

As you can see from this thread, arguing rarely changes anyone’s mind.

Environmental groups complain that species are becoming extinct at a great rate of knots. Nothing new about it, it seems.

Sometimes the only thing you can do with a closed mind is pray. Many atheists aren’t actually interested in arguments for the existence of God - they are determined to reject Him, no matter what.

Incidentally, if you want to “practise” arguing evolution with atheists, there are many online forums available on which there you’ll find plenty of atheists willing to engage you. However, be prepared to be mocked and insulted by some of them, as they love nothing more than venting their hatred of God on His followers.

While the existence of a Divine Designer is evident in his creation, we cannot ascertain his identity by examining his handiwork. We must rely on transcendent revelation - as Yahweh revealed himself to Moses in the burning bush, for example.
 
If humans evolved over millions of years, why is the folklore of ancient societies dominated by creation stories? Where are all the primitive stories about how the ancestors evolved?

Incidentally, is there any evolution folklore at all? And are there any “Holy Books” that attribute life to a process of evolution?
