Yes, we can be vigilant, step back and witness what we feel, what our automatic responses are. Then we are not as caught up in them.

No one should see or know you’re weakness. It can be easily used against you. I feel embarrassed when someone says something and it clearly struck a nerve. I wish I didn’t care or react that way. It gives the other person power.

You’re correct. It goes against a belief I held that you must be self sufficient - more well aware of your blind spots and weaknesses. You know yourself more than anyone else, others (name removed by moderator)ut should be secondary or dismissed.
It is difficult to understand God loves us even when we’re not perfect.
