the last EF mass I seen on EWTN was in July of 2009 with St. John Cantius Regular members officiating the mass. I haven’t seen any since. I hope that they still consider inviting other priest who are trained in EF to do such. 2 of EWTNs Priest are trained in EF by St. John Cantius. Fr. Joseph Mary and Fr. Miguel Marie.Does EWTN still televise the EF mass?

As I remember they were in Chicago for quite a few months. One would hope all priests trained to say the EF do so often. A lot of things are forgotten the longer they not say it.the last EF mass I seen on EWTN was in July of 2009 with St. John Cantius Regular members officiating the mass. I haven’t seen any since. Is not that against the Motu Proprio?Looking at EWTN’s archives, it does seem that the last televised EF from their chapel was in summer 2009.
I remember reading something a while back (it might have been in this forum) about the local bishop there prohibiting the broadcast (not the actual offering) of Mass celebrated ad orientem from the chapel. If true, that would explain things.
I don’t think it is against Motu Proprio. EWTN has expressed intrest in the EF, but hasn’t really said much about the massIs not that against the Motu Proprio?
Has EWTN announced any intention to celebrate the EF more?
That was the previous bishop, Bishop Foley. Our current bishop allows it.Looking at EWTN’s archives, it does seem that the last televised EF from their chapel was in summer 2009.

Perhaps he does but one thing I’ve observed on the televising of the EF Masses (I haven’t seen the ad orientem OF on EWTN) is this. The cameras are either to the side and/or behind the altar. (True of a lot of EF videos, by the way.) So for the TV audience the Mass isn’t truly ad orientem, though it may seem that way for those who are present there. I’ve attended the EF Mass locally which has seats behind the altar; seems like sitting there sort of defeats the purpose of the congregation praying in the same direction. That was the previous bishop, Bishop Foley. If only the wisdom of this teaching was more widely understood !Repetitio est mater memoriae.
Repetition is the mother of memory.
That went back to the previous Bishop about the OF done Ad Orientem. I am sure the current Bishop allows OF done in Ad Orientem. I do know that Bishop Folley and EWTN had disagreements about the OF in Ad OrientemPerhaps he does but one thing I’ve observed on the televising of the EF Masses (I haven’t seen the ad orientem OF on EWTN) is this. I could probably post this under modern churches but I’m sure even some of the older churches have seats to the side or behind the altars as well.
They mean April 9, 2011, don’t they?I am looking at a printed EWTN “April 2011 Highlights” mailer that has the following info:
“On April 9, 2010 at 1PM Eastern Time from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, EWTN will televise a ‘Solemn Pontifical Mass in the Extraordinary Form’. The celebrant will be Abp. Joseph Augustine Di Noia.”
The Archbishop is an American Dominican, currently the Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in the Roman Curia, and Titular Archbishop of Oregon City.
If you understand Spanish, the spanish version of ewtn has a regular program about the melkites. the english version also has a series of lenten reflections for eastern catholics, but much of what they show is ment to introduce the eastern customs to the west.Would “Solemn Mass” indicate the Extraordinary Form? If so then there are several in the Easter Week Programming. Look at the programs in yellow, some, but not all, of which are designated as “Solemn Mass”.
The only place I’ve ever found for feed back is viewer@ewtn.com and their phone number. I encourage you to write and say you want more frequent broadcasts of the EF Holy Mass.
We Eastern and Oriental Catholics have a similar problem where there is almost never any programming about us, let alone even once broadcast of a Divine Liturgy or even some other services. We all need to speak up and ask for a greater representation of the whole Church in terms of liturgy that is broadcast.
