Does God actively take part in conception?

Is God present and active–not passive–when a human life is conceived?

Can you please cite the Church teachings on this?
 
You can figure this out with reason.

How would a person be imputed with a soul upon conception if it weren’t for God? Humans are obviously not capable of doing such a thing on their own.

Okay.

So, Church teaching is that I should figure this out with reason.

Alright, gosh. Not as clear as I hoped! If only the Catholic Church were more clear on this important matter.

Too bad there’s no Church teachings to speak of that discuss my questions.

Yes I believe he is present. I was told by my priest that God infuses the soul into the embryo. Even though there are biological processes (created by God) that result in conception and development of the baby, these in and of themselves cannot account for everything. God must also will that a child be born by giving it a soul. This makes sense to me. I know that there are church writings on this topic. You might try doing a google search on “ensoulment”.

Where did he say that that response was Church teaching?

So, to answer your question, yes, God actively takes part in conception.

Is that all we have? Jeremiah?
 
God creates each human soul. Humans cannot produce a spiritual soul, so the soul must be created by God. Human parents cooperate with God in creating a new and unique individual of the human species, possessing an immortal soul.

God. speaking in His Word…the Bible…reveals that He loved you and knew you before ever a thing was made. Therefore, He actively chose a PATH of creation that went through “the neighborhood” of your birth…and His ineraction with you and your children.

In that sense, God “actively” is involved but also…God infuses us with a soul at some point in the pregnancy process…of which the Catholic Church has an extensive doctrine called “PRO-CREATION”.
 
365 The unity of soul and body is so profound that one has to consider the soul to be the “form” of the body:234 i.e., it is because of its spiritual soul that the body made of matter becomes a living, human body; spirit and matter, in man, are not two natures united, but rather their union forms a single nature.
366 The Church teaches that every spiritual soul is created immediately by God - it is not “produced” by the parents - and also that it is immortal: it does not perish when it separates from the body at death, and it will be reunited with the body at the final Resurrection.235

The Holy Spirit is with us always.

It is in the moment that our lives intersect Eternity.

Creation is not just something that happened long long ago, but is an ongoing process, whereby it emerges here and now, from His Eternal Here and Now.

His act of being contains all being.

Every incarnation of Adam possess both body and spiritual soul, inseparable.

Were it not for God, we would exist neither spiritually nor physically.
 
Insofar as the soul being created I agree that God is active, but I do not believe God willingly chooses to make sperm and eggs unite in whatever way He wants (ie. directly affecting the physical outcome). Obviously He is responsible for our existence, the possibility of our existence, and the mechanisms that guide our existence, but I believe, physically, He affects conception in the same way He affects nature in general.
