Mark 4:34 he did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.
This is an excellent example of what is not Written in the New Covenant’s Sacred Writings.

Yes, Scriptures allude to “private Teaching;” yet, it is not Written in Scriptures what these “private Teachings” were.

St. Paul often uses similar terms as he alludes to “as I teach in all the churches” or “as we teach in all the churches;” yet, not once can anyone gather, from the Written Scriptures what exactly did St. Paul mean or what exactly was that which, absent a description in Scriptures, he meant.

Why?

The Oral Tradition!

But yes, some things are better today, though not reading any posts accepting God as being behind any old reformers.
Any post that claims that must then assert that God is a God of confusion and division since Protestantism is strife and division covered by an icing of form (heads of state defining this is “Inspired,” this is “revelation,” and this is “word of God.”

Well, sounds like the textbook is the rule, that is for both teacher and student. The student certainly can learn from the teacher expounding from the textbook, as well as the student also proving himself studious of the textbook. Afterall, it is He that inspired the text also inspires the teacher and the reader alike.
Yet, text books are not filled with God’s Revelation and prophecies–these are found in the group of texts which the Holy Spirit Inspired and must also be accompany by the Church:
30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. 31 “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. (Acts 8)
…and this person was not a slouch or slow/dunce:
he met an Ethiopian[a] eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. (Acts 8)
So again, Scriptures alone would not suffice; it is by God’s Holy Spirit that we are brought to the fullness of Truth:
26 But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you. (St. John 14)
If all that would be required was a text book and a teacher, everyone would be full of the Knowledge of God!

There is no fail proof method of conveyance, but yet His method is pefect enough to accomplish His desires, overcoming sin nature with “new hearts” by grace. (the start of setting aside human perception for divine reception)
So why would you believe that Christ’s Church failed, do you see how you contradict yourself?

Can any P or O church decree anything binding on faith and morals infallibly, that the CC has not?
Well… some Protestant groups have decreed that homosexuality is simply another way to say “I love you.”

Some have claimed divorce and remarriage not just a granted but a right.

Some have claimed not Sacraments or one or two; some not even a physical body but just some utopian melding of the spirits/minds; some…

…get my drift?

The positive statement is the Holy Spirit guides all but in unity, showing towards unity of the Catholic faith. He leads to the One deposit of faith, which is Catholic
But it cannot be a deposit of faith that is lead by man’s whim–when a body teaches against Christ’s Gospel, holding its interpretation of Scriptures as the Word of God, there’s no unity of Faith.

The Written Word comes second not first!
Yes and NO.

First comes the Word, the actual utterance of God.

Second came the oral recitation of the first.

Third came God breathed Writ of same original utterance.

As an example use the sermon on the mount, and see the three ways God expressrs His sentiments to mankind, and thru His mouthpieces (judaism/christianity).

In two methods it is God breathed , the first and third. The second, oral, may be inspired (Holy Spirit brinnging to remembrance as promised) or may be wrote memory from preacher.

At any rate, I would consider God breathed writ equal to original Words from Jesus. (thinking again of sermon on mount example.)

Yes oral conveyance by apostles/disciples could be equal but certainly writ is more comprehensive and the promise to bring all things to remembrance is sealed, and multiplying the apostles outreach , thru writ. It is equal to Christ or the apostles speaking directly to us, and like being in many places at same time.

Certainly it is within context of Judaism/Christianity, but only when in accordance with Holy Spirit, who opens understanding to any hearer/reader of the now two remaing methods.

Agreed, and as the shoe fits, per any magisterium, any doctrine, teaching.

Correct…was rhetorical question, from the Catholic perspective, even her proposition.

No contradiction, just contrasting different perspectives of Truth conveyance

Was Judaism infallible? Was she perfect ? Of course not, yet Jesus says salvation was of her, and He was living, dying, resurrecting proof of that. He was perfect in that, in her Messiah coming forth out of her…see no contradiction.

Yes of course, they are Jewish/Christian texts…not Buddhist or Islamic etc…

You are not really saying sola scriptura means without Holy Spirit then, an ultimate straw man ?

Correct, that is Catholic proposition.

Not talkng about P or O’s but CC propositions towards “other brethren”, and their positions/reforms.

It would be wrong to suggest that because Writ tells us of Christ privately teaching disciples at times, that therefore some teachings may not be in Writ also. This is partly what gnostics wrongly charged.

Here’s are two passages to demonstrate that Christ does not hold Scriptures as the Rule:
Shall I twist your meaning as others twist SS?

So, the individual has the first right to rule against an offense, next, two brethren, and finally the church, and they have the liberty to rule as they please, knowing God is their witness and sealer?

The apostles and their successors can rule whatever they want, and it is justified, amen’d in heaven?

No, heaven is the rule first, and we can only seal it when in agreement with heaven, as revealed by writ or the Holy Spirit.

Nothing ruled can be contrary to Writ

I know we hold the same understanding; it is only our vocabulary that differs… do you recall the first Witten Record of Worship?

Before any Command to Write any specifics of Worship it was placed in Abel’s heart and mind to offer to Yahweh God the very best sacrificial offering.

Before the Priesthood was established it was placed in Abram’s heart and mind to seek Yahweh God’s Blessing and to offer the tithing.

It remains that God’s Word is Given to man and a Record of it follows–at first just Orally; then, at the proper time both the Oral and Written.

Because of God’s Promise to Abram: Jesus, the Son of David.

So when Jesus states: “I will build My Church” Judaism is brought to its culmination and as John the Baptist, it must decrease in order that Christ Increases.

The Church cannot then just simply fail to hold the Purpose to which Jesus Founded her.

What straw man?

The only straw man is that which professes to go against Christ and claim Inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Devoid of Succession of the Apostles anyone claiming “inspiration” of the Holy Spirit to splinter the Body of Christ is living in a delusional state, much like hollowood’s spirituality.

You can spin all you like.

Not once did Jesus say, ‘take it to Scriptures’ or ‘search the prophets’ or ‘do as the wisdom books tell you.’ He simply stated: a) correct your brother, b) bring other’s into the issue if he/she is unwilling to give up the sinful act, c) bring it to the Church, d) disown the sinner if he/she is unwilling to turn back to God.

If you want to inject some mumbo jumbo ‘Jesus meant to open to “xyz” passage and pray on it…’ well, you are welcome to follow your heart and your own understanding.
