What do you think Jesus would say about two men married in the United States?

He’d say that you’re diverting to avoid the point. So, again; that text clearly speaks about couples joined in God’s eyes and what reasons would allow divorce; so incestuous marriage is possible, yes?

No, it does not say they are joined in God’s eyes! It’s the exception! Sometimes Gentile converts were not required to divorce, who were within forbidden degrees of relationships!

Sometimes a person might have married someone who had a living spouse that the temple was not aware of…

Matthew was addressing this sort of thing. The other Gospels were addressing true and valid marriages.

Some marriages are coerced against a person’s will! This is not binding by God!

But when two Christians marry in the Lord, nothing can break what God has joined!!!

Again, it specifically says they may be divorced and you can’t be divorced without being married.

Unless you don’t believe they were married despite Christ saying they were joined in the eyes of God? And that their marriage may be divorced due to sexual immortality.

Where did God say the exception couple were joined by God???

Paul also Teaches that a Christian is not bound by God to their non believing spouse! Even though they may be married!

Right above, they were talking about couples that God has made one flesh. 😊
Yep! Those cannot divorce!
He then gives the exception for when they can. He even specifies it’s the exception.

The exception is a couple who were not joined by God.

Even St Paul says a person joined to a prostitute becomes one flesh with her.

1 Corinthians 5
Do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two shall become one."

It’s the exception to the marriage they were just speaking about, friend. He was speaking about a marriage joined in the eyes of God and then gave the exception for when it can be broken.

Cool, I’m glad your interpretation works for you. I don’t know if Jesus would have spoken in nonsequiturs but if you find that meaning works I’m happy for you.

You are happy that you believe I am accepting a wrong interpretation of what Jesus Teaches??

I believe there are as many ways to God as there are people and you’ve found a way that helps you feel close to Him; that’s great and I’m happy for you 😊

Where did you learn this? Do you think this is a Christian belief? Have you ever heard of Relativism?

From God. For me it is as my best way to understand God is through Christ. I have but I hardly think it deserves the scary capitalisation. Everyone learns differently, everyone has different hardships, God knows this and offers us all the best way to reach Him.

From God.
You were a Catholic, and then joined a non Christian religion, and this is when God spoke to you?
For me it is as my best way to understand God is through Christ.
And the way you understand Jesus is by leaving the Church?
I have but I hardly think it deserves the scary capitalisation.
And do you think it is what you are conforming to? Do you think relativism is compatible with following Jesus?
Everyone learns differently
Yes they do.
everyone has different hardships
In a way, perhaps.
God knows this and offers us all the best way to reach Him.
In part I can agree. However, God gives us commandments. Sin is not a way to reach God, right? It’s the complete opposite! So when Jesus says, “For your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for porneia, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries a divorced woman, commits adultery.” there are two separate choices. One leads to following the commandment of God, while the other leads to committing adultery, which rejects God.

1 Corinthians 6
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

So there are many ways to reject God and turn away from Him!
