Hmm…So the exact quotes from the Vatican themselves are false but the propaganda sites are true?So everything that Google returned is wrong, and what you say is true.
Ok, if you say so.

You seem to be fond of Google. Please do a Google search on “Soul CCC” and see what the Catechism tells us about the soul. The Catholic Church does know what a soul is.You have no idea what the soul is
I most definitely do not agree. He was sentenced to house arrest for asserting as fact what he could not prove as fact. Moreover, the force of Galileo’s contribution wasn’t the discovery of planetary orbits – Copernicus was the one who asserted the heliocentric model over the ptolemaic. Galileo discovered moons, IIRC, thus lending additional credibility to Copernicus’ theory.Galileo was placed under arrest by the Church for discovering planetary orbits? Glad that you agree here.
Huh? Where’d you get that from? The Church doesn’t ‘teach’ nuclear warheads, because the Church teaches theology, not nuclear weaponry… :whacky:Are you actually saying, that if the Church, does not believe in something, that it is not real? Are nuclear warheads not real, because the Church does not teach them?
You know what else is amazing? This forum shows us the “last edited time” of a post. Post #12 has never been edited. In it, Robyn corrected another poster who asserted that God is a creature.Robyn p:
Isn’t the edit button just amazing?I specifically said God is not a creature, so I’m not sure what you are talking about.
Yawn.
Martians???Where in what you suggested that I read, does it say that Martians can be baptized?
Was Jesus a good Catholic?
I bet my supper the OP is trolling, a poor and desperate attempt at that if he/she really is trolling though. From the 1st post to the last, the OP has been jumping everywhere before considering if the point made was even an intelligent argument. Went to the other threads he/she posted to see what else was going on, and I saw nothing different. You know what else is amazing? This forum shows us the “last edited time” of a post. You are either mistaken, or merely trolling. Which is it?![]()
:ehh:
No: DNA is not what’s meant, theologically, by the imago Dei.
Moreover, DNA does not control “every aspect of what we are;” it certainly controls the physical aspects of “who we are,” but does not determine anything about our soul. By the way… our soul is what is created “in the image and likeness of God.”![]()
There is no such thing as a Martian. There is no life on Mars. You act like you are so scientific but you keep talking about Martians. You sound like H.G. Wells or somebody in the 19th Century. How odd!!You have no idea what the soul is, nor even if it is real, do Martians have souls?

The Pope was making an analogy, which obviously was lost on you. He said he would baptise aliens to show that the church is not exclusive. This means that churches should not exclude people because they are different, not that he believe in aliens. Personally, I think he shouldn’t have made this analogy, because people like you take it literally.Your assumption, just as previous Popes assumed that evolution was not real, and the current Pope now says otherwise, and that Martians may be soon arriving. With that do you agree, that the current Pope would have been removed, by previous Popes, by whatever means needed?
You think you are so superior! Ha ha ha.Isn’t the edit button just amazing?
Yawn.
The real reason Galileo was put under house arrest is that he ridiculed Pope Urban in hs book “Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems”. He made his character Simplicio play the part of Pope Urban and made him look like an idiot. You seem to be fond of Google. Wow. I didn’t think DNARose was a liar too.You know what else is amazing? This forum shows us the “last edited time” of a post. Post #12 has never been edited. In it, Robyn corrected another poster who asserted that God is a creature.

That may have been the straw that broke the pontiff’s back, but remember – that book advocated for his theories as if already proven facts. Previously, he had agreed not to do that (and therefore lead others into the error of thinking it’d been proven) unless and until he was actually able to do so.The real reason Galileo was put under house arrest is that he ridiculed Pope Urban in hs book “Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems”. Well… it was a book that said “copernicanism is true”; it just also happened to say “and Pope Urban’s an idiot.” Both assertions are what got him in trouble…This portrayal of Simplicio made *Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems *appear as an advocacy book: an attack on Aristotelian geocentrism and defence of the Copernican theory. Unfortunately for his relationship with the Pope, Galileo put the words of Urban VIII into the mouth of Simplicio.
True, but he probably would have been okay if he had not insulted the Pope. That may have been the straw that broke the pontiff’s back, but remember – that book advocated for his theories as if already proven facts. So the human genome project is completed…To Gentle Readers,
Please accept my apology for not addressing the mangled science presented on this thread. The following should, hopefully, help clear up some of the thread’s misconceptions. Unfortunately, I cannot do much about the terminology. Often, I use both a regular dictionary and Google to figure out what is being said or demonstrated. This is a reputable link for science information.
evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/home.php
If there are questions about some of the odd things on this thread, I will try to answer them in more common terminology.
As for what the Catholic Church actually teaches, please give me a specific question.
First, the Human Genome Project has been competed with excellent results. Today’s Google has this simple definition. google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=&oq=human+genome&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4ADRA_enUS480US481&q=human+genome+project&gs_l=hp…0.0l5j41.0.0.0.9895…0.E_lklrEY3vs
The Human Genome Project (HGP) is an international scientific research project with the goal of determining the sequence of chemical base pairs which make up human DNA, and of identifying and mapping all of the genes of the human genome from both a physical and functional standpoint.
Normally, basic HGP sites will refer to the thousands of genes and billions of chemical base pairs. This link has some basic information. Important is the reference to
adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G) and cytosine (C).
genome.gov/11006943
Because sequencing uses the letters A, T. G, C, that may be where the idea that “God’s name is in DNA” comes from.
The completed Human Genome Project is a classic example of the first principle of the Scientific (inductive) Method which is “To observe without prejudice.”
Ah now, you are going to have to repent and do penance for that one, as the Pope will require this, as the papal decree of Martian realness has been handed down to the masses. There is no such thing as a Martian. There is no life on Mars. You act like you are so scientific but you keep talking about Martians. You sound like H.G. Wells or somebody in the 19th Century. How odd!!

I think no such thing…You think you are so superior! Ha ha ha.
That’s the sad part of the whole affair. Likely, there would have been some sort of censure, but short of an inquisition and a conviction and house arrest. The end result of this whole thing is the erroneous meme that the Church opposes science and progress.True, but he probably would have been okay if he had not insulted the Pope.
So who is the person, who referred to God as a creature?Wow. I didn’t think DNARose was a liar too.![]()
I know what the Pope meant, and I am CERTAINLY not the literalist here, in fact that is comical. There are people here quoting the catechism, and believing that the human soul is immortal. Why, because the same dudes who proclaimed that the Earth is the center of the universe, said so…The Pope was making an analogy, which obviously was lost on you. He said he would baptise aliens to show that the church is not exclusive. This means that churches should not exclude people because they are different, not that he believe in aliens. Personally, I think he shouldn’t have made this analogy, because people like you take it literally.
